Tomorrow finally arrived 20 March 07
OK so I entered an endurance event a couple of weeks back with the intention of training hard, getting fit and shedding a few pounds. To no great surprise this hasn't happened, I'm riding less now than before I registered and have put on weight rather than lose it.
Called the doc last week to get the results of a routine cholesterol and PSA check and have been asked to come in. Not good, I'm pressuming the years of bacon and egg rolls have finally caught up and he wants to talk to me about my cholesterol levels and not my PSA results. Either way I'm sick of making excuses so its time to be accountable. Hence this blog. I figure if I make this journey public then I'm more likely to be honest with myself, shamed into getting off my lard arse and actually do something. Over the coming weeks I'm going to journal my progress, both training and overall health, here.
Some might ask why I don't truely "expose" myself if I want to be accountable. Well call me conservative but I am a little wary of putting this sort of personal info into such a public domain, hey I might need to go for a job interview and I don't want a future HR manager to google me and have this come up. Some things are best kept from some people. I figure that if you're still reading then there is some interest. If there is some interest and you're a regular nobmobber then over the coming weeks there is every chance you will figure out who I am. If noone does then thats good, just the thought of the possibility should be enough to shame me into action. I ask that if you do "guess" my identity you keep it to yourself for the above reason.
What are my goals? Well I've lost weight in the past, setting myself a goal of say sub 100kg. Never really works, strangely enough, so this time there will be no numeric goals. My aim is to improve my intake and exercise every day, even if its only a half hour walk at lunchtime. My short term goal is get fit enough that I will enjoy my upcoming endurance event. Time will tell.
I sit here this morning 180cm, 105kg, 106cm girth.
Exercise this week
1 MTB ride about 25km
Broke out the trainer last night - about 20mins.
Food diary
Well don't know yet if I'll go into this much detail but we'll see how I go.

Hope to meet some of you soon.
