Hi there,

Long time reader, first time poster...

I was just wondering if anyone knows much about these two bikes the Diamondback XTS, or XTS Moto? Any advice is welcome.

I am also curious about the sizing of their frames, the small is 17.5", and I can not for the life of me find any frame dimensions on the net anywhere.

Here is the spec if anyone is curious?

I've got em on my Giant Glory and they are strong, although I managed to crack one at the Stromlo DH track on a 5 foot to flat at the road gap thingy. Anything will break if abused I guess.

I also have some Mag 30s on my Coiler which cop a hiding and are, I dare say, even tougher.

The 729s are supposed to be the sh#t though, I believe.

And here I was thinking it was just my lack of skill that I can't corner and all the while it's been the bike... Oh wait, I couldn't corner when I had the DH9 either Shocked)

Skinny is one of the quickest riders I hang with. Long time racer boy. He is fast and corners great but he is damn hard on rims Shocked)

ok brad so getting back to the point hehe, i had a look at a range of bikes today, (kona coiler, norco shore 2, cannondale gemini ..well that was it actually, the rest were out of price range!, and i found the coiler won me over as expected.. alot lighter than the norco, (at least 5 pounds lighter) and slighty less travel meaning slightly lighter forks albeit not as phat looking Smiling but i just think the shore is getting way heavy and downhilly for something that can do anything down and up the hill..oh and screw the cannondale, they look awesome at the 5000+ price range minus the lefty! (brace for controversy Eye-wink) but crap under it...
basically for the same price well the norco shore 2 was 700 more, but at the shop i was at they had one on sale (2006) for 2700- the kona is 2650....the guy said when the 2008's come out around late august, hell shave a good 500 off and we can work something else out too..basically a good solid, not too heavy, easy to fix (should there be a prob) and nice looking bike with good gears (lx), hayes nines and a brake jack option for those who desire, that is for all appearances, bomb proof without hitting up the shit you cant go uphill on or smashes your wallet to pieces!
so thats my plan! hope it helps Smiling

with the better front fork. A Bomber 66 is a MUCH better fork than a Drop off IV. It will be the first thing you will want to replace and is one of the costliest.

I have a Coiler and replaced the Fork as mentioned above. Required a new front wheel as well to accomodate a thru axel.

Two of my mates have Geminis and as much as I pay em out for being Cannondale riders they are awesome bikes. As 'light' as the Coiler but with more travel and a better front fork (depending on the Model of course). They also have thru axles in the rear for extra stiffness!!

PS my other mate had a 'lefty' which was total crap for free riding and replaced it with a 66 (on his prophet) and it is now a pretty solid rig. Also the Coiler has been a great bike!!

Just my 2c worth.

hmm yeh i did notice the 66 looked alot more hard core than the drop off..wonder what they have planned for the 08... the norco did have a 66 but like i said, overall package i think was a bit heavy and downhilly for an all-rounder.. still have to test ride a couple though i think to really be sure...
