On the Friday night?
I am driving up on Friday lunchtime ish from Sydney, would be keen to meet anyone up there on Friday evening.
youve just repeated my plan for this weekend ants.
coluzzi sat -mad miles back to sutho to get the HR up and over 200 (not rnp), then 3 or 4 laps at awaba to try to get used to these new tyres on sunday.
Mate - no RNP? Thats a poofters ride!
We'll be turning into the park along with the other MTBers (there were 11 of us last week) and smashing those hills. My HR was right up there as I was turned inside out coming up from Audley wier.
Jen'll be coming too - so you'll have some company
@Logan - I'll be there on Fri afternoon, but not camping. If the weather is dry, we'll ride the first 2km of the climb to the KOM to see how it will go early on. Not sure on timing yet as we're picking up James Lamb from Gosford on the way up and he'd be late for his own funeral.
I will be there mid afternoon.
Will give you a buzz, was concerned I would be all on my lonesome on Friday evening lol!
I'll be there some time Friday but no camping for me.
....just in case you dont feel you've done enough riding on the Sat in the race, and are planning on staying sat night in Port Macq (bit a big night planned I hear), we have a merry band of riders who are going to drop into Awaba on the drive home to cut a couple of laps and break up the drive.
It'll be slow, goofing around just getting the race out of the legs, so if anyone is keen to join, let me know.
BTW - stinking hard hills session completed this morning with a new Rockstar. Its time to rest up a bit....

Yeah I was referring more to the amount of rain predicted.
But they are all slightly different lol.

Did anyone notice that we do the motorcross circuit at the start and the finish. That will be awesome viewing if riders are fighting for positions at the end
I think not.
Unfortunately, I really think this one will be fairly spread out. It could be great viewing, and maybe there will be a few, but its gonna be a broad finish spread.
Those profiles posted....the third is a different scale to the first two. Over 70% of the total meters climbed are in the last 40km of the race. It will be carnage.
Sure - Bago Bluff is bad, but there are 3x 120m + climbs in the last 25km. That will really hurt.
I fear it will be a very tough ride. There is literally almost zero KM of flat. Its either up or down.
Still - its the same for everyone!
So what's your prediction for the winning time
I am not sure of the ratio of ST to Fireroad, and also how muddy it will be.
If we were to assume pretty much rideable conditions throughout and a 50:50 mix of trail, I reckon its about 4hrs 30min. Maybe a bit more.
Similar to Highland Fling times though I reckon.
Who knows though. I do know I'll be packing some serious gels and food for this one.....
I'm going to need a picnic basket for the amount I'm carrying. All I know is my last two rides i have taken some vegemite sandwiches and it was really good having some normal food on the ride.
Yep - Jen loves a sandwich too - some normal food to break up the gels...
1grm of carb / kg of body weight / hour. Stick to it, and you'll be fine.
Speaking of gels, I just got an email from fastgear and they are doing 3 boxes of apple flavoured gel for $30

Competitors,
Early this afternoon, I received word through the Port Macquarie Hastings Council that police consent for the Bottlebutt 100 had been cancelled.
On confirming this with the Local Police, I was informed that Regional Command had cancelled our consent to hold the event.
Obviously we are devastated by this news. We have spent a great majority of this afternoon attempting to shed some light on this situation, with little result.
We have been left with no other option but to postpone the Bottlebutt 100.
We will email all competitors again as soon as we have had time to ascertain the reason behind this decision, and hopefully with a new date for the event.
Once we announce a new date, we will offer competitors a full refund for a short period, if this is the avenue that they wish to take.
If, for any reason, we are unable to announce a new date, we will offer all competitors a full refund.
Updates regarding the impact of this announcement on the Real Insurance Series will be posted on the Cycle Nation website in due course.
Once again, we do apologise for this. This situation is beyond our control and we will not run an event without the appropriate means of ensuring a safe and enjoyable event for participants.

I got the message last night, but decided not to post anything up as I was so livid.
Both myself and Jenny are really disappointed. I doubt whether we will ever hear the whole story as to the cancellation etc, but it seems most peculiar with too many coincidences.
I feel sorry for Theo, and the rest of the Real Insurance crew who have worked so hard to put together a sweet series, and try something new this year, only to be let down so many times for so many reasons.
Not sure how this leaves the series now, but I know that neither Jen nor I were ever gonna do the Full Fling, so its probably going to impact us in terms of overall positions.
Its small fry compared to the many people who will be put out by the cancellation, so I wont whinge......
Anyway - there is also a CCOMTB Ourimbah club round this weekend if anyone is tapered and rested and wants a hit out....
Don't tell em about the CCOMTB round, I was hoping I might have a chance at a decent position if no-one else turned up

when asked if they could do the Moto event at the last minute they jumped at it & just shuffled off the MTB event-I hope when the Moto club asks when are you running your MTB event they return with a big middle finger & say screw you!
Personally I think it's been such poor form. In my books the only reason an event should be cancelled days out is due to extreme weather. Everything else should be sorted with back up plans.
They could of started this just down the road, at the road crit track, I think there is a problem with some local road use, that the cops weren't to happy about. So they pulled there support and left the organisers no choice but to cancell. Still heading up as both my brothers live there, will swing past the moto club and see if anything is on. Brother is friends with English and some of the local organisers, will try and find out more.
