Week 6.2 10th July 07 Weigh In and Goal check
Numbers first
Waist 101cm
Weight 99.6kg
Ok numbers don't look that good but I am not at all worried about that. This is on the back of "carb loading" before Coffs and the usual group feed / road trip pig out after. So enough for those at the moment.
Now for the good stuff. My initial goal was to get to a point where I enjoyed the 50km Coffs ride and both crossing the line and sitting here now two days later I have to say I did.
As with everyone from Sydney the last couple of weeks prep was far from ideal. In fact I had not been on the bike since the Canberra Rd trip so the fact that I made it to the finish line is acheivment enough for me. Time was respectable, not fantastic but certainly nothing to be shy of, and whats more I didn't get the slowest time in my age group.
This is not to say it wasn't done without discomfort along the way. For most of the journey I was cramping in one place or another and by the end its fair to say I was sore pretty well all over, although this did disappear pretty quickly when I was greeted by the cheers of the Nobmob crew. What a great Mob.
I learnt alot from this, my first distance event, and by far the furthest I have been on a bike in one day for as long as I can remember. Most of this discomfort was to do with nutrition, particularly during an event or long ride, all of which will make the next one easier. I just didn't consume enough carbs and particularly fluid during the event. Thanks to all those that passed and gave encouragement and advise at seemingly just the right time.
So whats next. Well I'm taking some time off with the family so I won't be posting for probably a fortnight or so. Nor will I be keeping a food diary. It's been a month and a half since this journey began for me and its not over yet but it is certainly time for a change in direction, even if only temporary. No diary doesn't mean back to bad habits. I will be endeavoring to continue the good eating and lifestyle habits I have begun to form.
I said in I think my last post that I would probably take the couple of weeks after Coffs to try and lose as much weight as possible. For now this on the side burner. I won't be near scales or a tape measure for a couple of weeks, more importantly though I am happy with where things are headed.
So, for a short time atleast, its good bye and thank you all for your support. It has been greatly appreciated.
