Tagging Content
As we continue to grow, I've tweaked another couple of features to do with tagging content. This will mainly relate to images I guess, but you can tag just about any content (ride meetings, forum topics, blog entries, etc, etc).
First off, for better or worse (depending on your point of view and how we use it), free tagging is now on for 'site wide tags'. When you post content it is still categorised same as always, just now you can add any number of your own extra tags (making them up on the spot) to further categorise it.
Take the example, Beautiful Day... first off, it's a picture so it must be placed in an image gallery. However, then there's that 'site wide tags' box... hmmm... well, this is a picture of Shano, it's was at a race and an XC one at that so type in those tags, comma separated and bingo. Cool thing about this box is it auto completes, just type 'sh' and wait a sec, and you'll get a drop down list of tags containing that snippet (as I've already tagged something with 'Shano' that would be there).
So now he's famous, Shane has his own term id - this will grow the more that are added.
This fits nicely with the next two additions, the tag cloud and site map. Have a look - first one in particular is pretty spiffy, great visual of where most of the content is.
Coming soon will be the ability to tag content after the author is done (say they took your picture, but didn't tag you, you'll be able to add your name as a tag).
