On the Friday I had the day off and worked from home – I had numerous texts from friends asking if I was still REALLY (?) going to the race – being the only girl I could hardly pull the pin and knowing the boys I was with I doubted very much any of them would. So, I did the thing that most women do – I packed enough clothes for about a month and enough food for about a week – I got a lift with Junkie, who called to say he was running later than expected – every time he said that I packed more clothes...

How much of a HERO is Steve for organising our cabin? I felt so sorry for the campers, it rained and rained and rained and rained some more...

Rob didn’t come and say hello to us on the Friday night so we nominated him for first lap – he was surprisingly good about that and we sent him off merrily – he returned smothered in mud which was the theme for the weekend – we had to hose ourselves at the fire hose, along with our bikes before we were allowed in the cabin where Whisperer had a bucket for clothes before we got in the shower – did I mention how heaven our cabin was?

We all did double laps and I had a total ball, still worried that I would be slower than the boys and of course I was, they did 33s and I did 40s but they were nice about it. And, yes, I became quite enamoured with the ‘white board’ BUT!! Only because I wanted to know when I was riding next so I could think about my food and beer!!

We had planned triple laps at night but that track would have been dreadful - the smiles on everyone's faces that the track was closed was great – I was most pleased as I had NO brakes at all – (thank you Critter and Toast team for trying to swap) and thank you to Cupcake who managed to find the only set of brakes for my bike at the whole competition – the bike shop couldn’t keep up with the demand as people were going through a set a lap!

I felt sooo sorry for the Toasted team when I visited them on the Saturday night – they were litereally sitting in muddy puddles, but happily informed me ‘they were camping’ - mind you they still had the sense to pop over for dinner with us!

I thoroughly enjoyed my laps whilst doing them and found everyone on track very nice and friendly – this was once I recovered from Whisperer standing directly in front of my bike at transition as I was setting off for my first lap – this resulted in my being the only person to actually fall off in transition...
Bruce was a sensational supporter – everywhere you looked he had that umbrella and a massive smile – he also, in between his social trips managed to change five sets of brakes – legend!
Thank you all the ‘roid boys, you were a fun, entertaining team who managed to keep race faces for the race (unlike toasted critty who had his on all of Saturday!). In fact, I was proud to know all you boys – that means my team, Toasted and Groover as everyone had the best attitude and everyone smiled all weekend – it was actually quite a relaxing time away.. Smiling

I had a total ball, brilliant weekend, and to come third was just too funny – did we mention that at all?
Oh... and Mildred now has blue anodised BLING!!! another highlight!!
