Fudding Mud Fun
What a great team effort by team Toasted despite the horrendous conditions you guys all kept a smile on your dial and soldiered on well done.
Team Toasted had a nice consistent race with everyone doing single fast laps we where all able to post respectable times. We thought we could be in with a bit of a chance especially with Alex setting us up nicely with some fast laps and keeping us in the chase while Chris and Dylan where doing a great job with myself Todd and Wayne all holding up our end and posting respectable lap times. And then the track was closed just in time to go to bed for a really good sleep one of the best I have had while camping I must say.
The restart was a very civilised 7.30am the field was some what depleted but with no rain and a drier track than the night before it looked like the morning could be a bit easier than the previous day and nights mud fest. Team toasted lead out by Dylan kept on going without missing a beat everyone in the team stepped up and did a lap as hard and as fast as they could in the worsening conditions we held on to our sixth place all the way and snatched and held on to fifth by 26 seconds on the last grassy section of the last lap.
Personally I struggled to enjoy the race the track was ok it has a few sections that are a lot of fun in the dry but on the whole it was a bit disappointing it needs a lot more work. The single speed 29er was fun as usual and the drive train didn’t miss a beat but I struggled with grip on the wet uphills and confidence on the muddy downhills all weekend and decided to play it really safe my lap times suffered for it but I am happy to have not crashed and theirs always next time.
