Rotorua
Took my bike to the Specialized dealer in Rotorua they did a great job, fixing the brakes installing a new rear tyre and adjusting the gears all in under an hour. I had two days of riding in Rotorua, I’m considering going there for another day later this week.
The people in the Rotorua and Taupo region are spoilt, so many great tracks to choose from. The first day in Whakarewarewa I only had two hours to play with, so rode a combination of the lower trails. Found a nice jump, which I did not go over
On the second day I rode/walked to the top trail Tuhoto-Ariki, which is at an elevation of 765 meters. The first half of this trail was fun but it would have been better if there was not so much mud. This trial leads to my favourite track, Split Enz. Split Enz was awesome, it has great downhill sections, switchbacks, a great view, and no mud After Split Enz I took a few different trails another standout was Old Chevy, it had some great drops, and burmed corners. Unfortunately it started getting dark so I had to stop at 40km; I was tempted to put the lights on and keep riding but was not sure if the gate into the park got locked at night.
