Chainsaw Massacre

Easy, almost flat, single track through the trees.

Well... not as many trees as there used to be, hence the name Eye-wink

Muppet Show

This is a good little single track ride with a few slightly technical bits.
It's a good track to show kids some slightly more challenging mountain bike trails. They may have to walk a few small sections, but this is no drama.
Use the Muppets Return to make this a full loop track of a little over 2km. Most people do this loop clockwise.

Dangerfield Dip

Steady drop off the fire trail access and climb back out. Access via Dangerfield drive as well.

East Gully drop to Cycleway

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

This drops off the eastern fire trail and is quite a steep decent with places of exposed rock face to descend. A creek crossing (usually dry) and a steep climb will bring you out on the cycleway between Jesmond Park and the John Hunter. Trail condition is fairly poor, lot of wash aways and more a technical decent.

Lower Run out

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Cuts across from one fire trail to the other, there is some lovely rolling tight switch back turns, a creek crossing (usually dry) with a short but very steep climb out of it. The trail divides just after the creek crossing both end up at similar locations, there is also a late option to take a right and drop you out on the Jesmond Cycleway down the main embankment.

EK Avenue Access Extension

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

This extension leads off the Great North Walk. It is partly single track, partly fire trail and the fire trail is in disrepair with big ruts etc in it. Also several boggy water crossings.
