Slicks for my 29er MTB
Hi Gang, I want to get another set of wheels for my 29er mtb and put a set of slicks on them - I love it so much I dont want to ride my roady anymore!
Any recommendations for a good quality strong set of rims and also good slick tyres?
Also, slightly off topics, I put my Woodford to Glenbrook ride up on www.videotime.com.au for those of you who are interested. 58 mins ride time.
Cheers

First ride on the Reign 69er - awesome!!!

Well, I built my 29" wheel (TN719 with Geax Saguaro tyre) and swopped out the fork (Manitou Minute 29er 100mm travel with 20mm through axle) in place of the Fox Float 140mm).
Cut the steerer down to 225mm (compared with 200mm on the Fox), but used spacers on top so the bars were more or less the same height as before. I didn't flip the stem and all in all, the geometry and riding position was pretty much unchanged (the lower travel and the the extra wheel size cancelling each other out).
For Sale - Gary Fisher Paragon 29er - SOLD
For sale: Gary Fisher Paragon 29er.
It has been off-road only once (Manly dam, 12km track) and apart from that has been my going-to-the-shops bike, so it's been ridden a total of probably 100km. It's being sold because with 3 young kids I just don't have time to ride it (and maybe to make way for the next project bike).
It rides a treat, eating most terrain for breakfast. Handling and stopping is exceptional.
There is minor cable rub on the head tube, and minor tyre rub on the chain stays (from previous tyres that were too big). Other than that it's in absolute mint condition.
Does Size really matter
Over recent times there has been increased debate over size and in particular can an extra 3 inches really make a difference – I was curious and last night I lost my 29er virginity and here are my thoughts.
The Bike: Surly Karate Monkey (Chromo) with RST M29 forks (80mm), Single Speed running 32/20.
The Track: Terrey Hills - Perimeter /Long tracks (24k), muddy and at night.
This was my maiden voyage on a 29er, apart from laps of my driveway setting up the saddle.
