Ive been emailed a training ride on google maps & was wondering how i get this on to my Edge 705?

You need the file in CRS format. You can use gpsies.com to convert most files:
http://www.gpsies.com/convert.do
Although... you'll have to get some kind of file out of Google Maps first, not sure that is possible
Can you convert from a KML file? If so, open the map link in your browser but append &output=kml to the address. This will prompt you to download or view the KML file. You can save that and then I assume you can convert that to the format that you need for your GPS.
