Surprised myself

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

With four training rides of less than 2 hours and a blast for three hours on Monday, and then getting a stinker of a cold on Friday night I thought I would struggle to finish this, so I was very happy with a sub 3:00 for the half.

I did the Dash the night before (came 20th compared to last times 10th) as well and I think that it helped to remind me of what real hellish pain was, thanks to all the people shouting me up constitution hill, that was much harder than my last effort in 2009.

As always the fling turned out to be a brilliant event, really happy we went along.

First time

What a fun fast race, well organised, friendly volunteers and over and done with in less than an hour. I had been sick with a chest infection for the weeks leading up to this so didn't do any training, but was happy to finish under the hour.

Would love to do it again next year.

Infant robs man of training

I've already listed all of the excuses for not training, and the fact I drove up at 4am after moving house the day before (for an office worker like me that's pretty tiring stuff!).

Anyway, I plumbed for the 60 and had a great ride all in all. Broke a chain which took a while to fix but other than that pretty croozy ride. Oh and managed to cramp right on the finish line as they took of the tag - perfect.

What a cracker

Great race this one, loads of new single track (well new to me) and a good pace for all three laps. A big stack at the front just leaving the start bunched up the race and then another cash about 20 meters after that. It was all pretty hectic up there.

Nice and warm at about 32 degrees, but I felt pretty good considering my absence of training. I managed to hang on to Fabio's wheel to the finsih line, though he is nursing an injury. Plenty of time to learn some single track handling skills from him though, I think I have a new trick to test at the next race.

CCOMTB - 2011 - Round 1

What a race, and what a turn out! It looked like there were about 15 people in A grade alone. Great Nobmob turn out too, hopefully those that haven't been before can see what a great race it is and will attend some more. Well done to Ray for what looked like 5th place in A grade - what a demon. Logan, hope your cuts heal OK, they looked pretty nasty but nothing a pommy victory at the cricket wouldn't solve eh? Eye-wink

CCOMTB - final results

For my record keeping, the final results have been posted up:

Final results : http://www.ccomtb.com.au/results/Final%20XC%20Ra...

What a great year, never thought I could get first place in B grade, but I guess showing up to as many races as possible really pays off. I'm really going to try and do some next year as well.

Edit: Managed to get to the first round of CCOMTB XC 2011, and picked up my trophy Laughing out loud

Hard. Phew, what a race.

Hard backwards

Great but hard race. Like a different track in reverse, but really good fun, and some big hucks. Still waiting for the result but I'm told I was 3rd or 4th.

Thanks to Martine for the pics.
