Re: This ride meeting:
Highland Fling 2012
Status:
Finished
Laps:
1
Time:
02:52:55
Position (Overall):
119
Race Category:
Half/Male/Masters
Position (Category):
43 With four training rides of less than 2 hours and a blast for three hours on Monday, and then getting a stinker of a cold on Friday night I thought I would struggle to finish this, so I was very happy with a sub 3:00 for the half.
I did the Dash the night before (came 20th compared to last times 10th) as well and I think that it helped to remind me of what real hellish pain was, thanks to all the people shouting me up constitution hill, that was much harder than my last effort in 2009.
As always the fling turned out to be a brilliant event, really happy we went along.
Thanks to Gazza for the loan of the camelback.

I bet I saw you - I had my Giant jersey on /Red Camel Bak and you must have been just in front then. I hope I was not in your way at Bakers? I looked back at one stage and I had a train of very polite and patient riders - hope I didn't hold you up - well done.
Great race - everyone was chilled and relaxed - great to see
Ha yes I think I remember. You certainly didnt hold me up mate
Good result with limited preparation - I think we swapped positions a few times. I was on a giant XTC 29er, wearing a gold highland fling jersey.
Perhaps we were together as I was in a train from stage 1 until the single track and beyond. I remember the XTC and a girl with Ashfield Cycles on her knicks and I guy with gold coloured hub and skewers about my age was in that group?
Don't remember gold skewers. Mine are red though if that helps
You sounded very snotty when i saw you. Glad i kept my distance!
Great work Dylan especially with the flu, you always seem to ride a solid Fling race. Doe this race mark your return to 50km and 100km races?
