Hi all

Was up Newcastle way this weekend and was chatting to a couple of fellow MTBr's who were telling me about the Wollombi Wild Ride.

Just checked it out on the net. Fun event starting/finishing from the infamous Wollombi Tavern.

3 Categories - Novice 15k, Intermediate 30k, Intermdeiate / Advanced 60K rides. The Tavern is putting on a band etc starting at 1pm after the event. Event is all for charity - Hunter Prosotate Cancer Alliance So for a good cause too.

Here is an extract of the event blurb.

"We are excited to announce this new event that we hope to build into a another annual event for the Hunter area. The event is being run in conjunction with Hunter Prosotate Cancer Alliance in an attempt to raise some funds and also promote prostate cancer check ups. To be held 5 Sept (the day before Fathers Day) we hope to be able to encourage father and children and or the whole family to get involved. There are 3 races, Wild 15-30 and 60. Wild 15 is for the family or total novice competitors and is only 15km on a relatively flate course with some interesting tracks. Wild 30 is for the more adventurous and has some serious tracks and climbs to deal with. Wild 60 is not for the faint hearted and has about 20km of serious climbing with unbeliveable views around the valley."

The race is on the 5 September the weekend before the doctor, so could be a could prep ride for all of us going down to Mogo.

Sounds like a gr8 fun Saturday out.

Rob not sure how to add this to the upcoming races etc on the site, but might be good if you can post it up in this section.

Just create a 'ride meeting' being careful to make sure it's flagged as a commercial race.

Wonder what the fire roads are like up there - nice and rough (like the fun part of GNR) or just smooth going? Anyone know?
