Where to buy Assos knicks/shorts?
Need some new knicks /shorts and prefer quality fit with a good chamois etc.
I heard good things about Assos knicks/shorts (but pricey...).
Please suggest a good place to buy...ideally cheaper, or locally (for proper fit) rather than from their online store.
Also - which of their shorts/knicks are best suited for MTB?
Thx, Hans

Hi Hans, there is actually the Assos shop in Bondi / Rose Bay. On Old South Head Rd just after the 5ways corner..
They guy there is great (Karl Bellamy), and they have all sizes in most colours and shapes.
I ride with him on the road. I dont thing dropping names will help though...
It wont be discounted much but you know that is a good fit etc.
Rumour has it that they also do a crash replacement policy (if you shred your super pricey shorts, they will replace them at a reduced price).
Check out the summer gloves (long finger) for the nicest MTB riding gloves on the market...
Hi Hans,
Tried a few different brands and ended up with Sugoi bib and brace, well padded and comfortable as.
Cheers
Evan
Once i'd worked out my sizing, I buy over the net now from CRC
I haven't tried Assos knicks, but believe they are pretty good, but very expensive. I recently bought some Pearl Azumi knicks at Woolys (they are $149, but got them for $128 after negotiating) - very comfortable, even on longer rides (100km plus). Alternatively, check out the new 2XU shop on Oxford Street not far down from Paddington Town Hall. Again, good quality, but quite expensive, but absolutely worth a visit. The shop has everything cycling and tri.
Hope this helps, Hans
Sugoi with the formula fx chamois are well worth the money. I've had mine for about 1 and half years and use them a lot. And my saddle is a SDG
Ti-Fly that has minimal padding. 100 kms not a problem for these great bibs!
Interesting... how does this SDG Ti-Fly compare to a Sella Italia SLR? Have you seen the 2 side by side? They look very similarly priced and spec'd but I'm about to buy a second SLR so interested in comparisons.
the italian seat is of a much higher quality and price and also weighs about half as much it would appear. but i havent seen one of yours close up.
Hey Rob.
I've got a Ti Fly C on the 575. Unfortunately It's the only saddle I have but if you want to try one in anger, we could swap over ( or give me watever you have spare lying around). I'm still only on the trainer and would happily sit on another perch for a week while you try it out.
Let me know
CB
Thanks for the offer CB, but the 'C' version has extra padding it seems. The WTB saddle I was using (a Rocket) was a bit too fat and padded and strange as it seems this caused more discomfort so want to stay with a more solid one (have had an SLR XC on the Rush for ages and it's fine).
BTW, Pivot, the SDG site says the Ti-Fly is 185g. A Selle Italia SLR XC is 175g so not that much diff.
I must have been looking at the c64 which apparently weighs 89 grams! fancy looking saddles though. Why are they called saddles anyhoo when they are attached to a SEAT post?
SLR XC 131 wide and 275 long
SDG TiFly 127 wide and 260 long
