From the Mont website.

Whoa Nelly!
Sunday, October 25, 2009
The entry system opened at 5:30pm yesterday and got a hammering over the following 6 hours – so much so it looked like the event would sell out before the end of the week. Rather than catch those of you who wait a while before jumping online by complete surprise, we have pressed the pause button and will re-open entries in one weeks time.

This period will allow you to get all your team details together, and allow us to make some minor changes to our server/hosting arrangements... our hamsters are exhausted.

Entries re-open 9am Monday 2nd November (now clear of the Sydney to Gong charity ride and the CORC Club Race).
In the meantime, RIDE.

Highland Fling 2009 deja vu?

The server didn't go into melt down. In fact our IT guy said the entry system server had barely registered the load of the entries coming in. The confirmation emails coming through to my account during dinner did sound a lot like a pinnie during multiball play however.

We took entries offline for a couple of reasons, the main one being we don't want the event selling out in silly record time like many events this year. The racing should be on track, not online. We also took this opportunity to move our event website from a bill gates special to a spanky linux server, and it made sense to move the entry system there too. This was completed over a few minutes yesterday. It's ready to go, but as stated earlier, button clicking will start from 9am on Monday. The entry system is very flexible now, so that updates to team details can be made with ease and race category changes can also be made on the fly. The entry system checks against sex and age, so it can tell if you are not female enough to race in Foursome Females for instance, or can advise if you are not a Junior anymore and should ride with the big boys. Get your team together and Ride the Bird.

suitable for beginners? I have never riden at Sparrow Hill so I don't know the terrain. I am trying to convince my wife to race but she has had very little experience offroad.

I think the mont at sparrow would be the perfect place for anybody's first taste at MTB racing. Good atmosphere at fun flowing single track...

Me on the other hand... I will be entered in a 4 man single speed team ooooohhhh yeah!
