Has anyone been MTBing in Adelaide/SA?

well it's getting to that time of the year when the Christmas/NY road trip needs to get sorted. The past 2 years we have taken the bikes through Victoria, but this year we were thinking of heading to Sth Australia to try out the riding there and maybe stop in at Mt Buller on the way back.
I've searched the site and can't find any comments from people who have actually ridden in SA. I have found a great mtb site http://www.adelaidemtbtrails.com/ to give us some idea of the riding.

So if any nobmob folk have actually ridden in SA or done a similar road trip, I would really appreciate hearing from you.

I am from SA - we have a couple of mtb specific parks eg Fox/Cudlee Creek (which is part of Mt Crawford Forest) http://www.southaustraliantrails.com/pdf/cdlecre... and the Eagle Mtb Park which are about 20kms from each other and within an hours drive each from the city. Each have about a days worth of XC riding each at varying skill levels. Both have very basic facilities (eg no water/toilets) but maps at trail heads. Of course, look at the Adelaide MTB Club website for some other info.

There are also some trails in the Mitcham area which could keep you amused for a morning/afternoon, but as always watch out for the two leggers.

We are going to Forrest/Appollo Bay over Xmas and Buller at Easter - can't wait for either.

thanks for the tips ms switchback.

do you have any advice on DH places that are worth a ride?

we've been to Forrest for the last 2 Xmas' and it was great fun. camped at the small camping/caravan park in town. If you get the chance check out Mt Beauty lovely spot, i think it is only a cple of hours away from Mt Buller.

try inside line which is the local DH club.

Fox has some DH runs that can be shuttled, but the DH run (used for round 1 of the National Series) in Eagle can't unless it is an event. There are some other DH locations that I don't know about because I mainly ride XC - but IL should be able to help.

cheers
