you can explore lapstone zig zag railway and surrounds, some1 mentioned 27kms of track there
Also RNP is a 2 min ride from Loftus Station.
This was another of those ideas that never got implemented, but we should have a 'closest train' or something where it would work.
Aside from those already mentioned...
Stewart Ave trailhead for Berowra Valley is 1.6km from Asquith Station and 2.3km from Hornsby Station.
Lake Paramatta is 3.7km from Parramatta Station or Dundas Station.
Ourimbah is 5.5km from from Wyong Station.
Awaba is 4.5km from Awaba Station.
Kentlyn (not in our DB) is 2.8km from Leumeah Station.
There are no trains in the Northern Beaches area so closest train to Manly Dam is Roseville. Over the Roseville bridge (yerch) to the playing fields on Bantry Bay side is 6.8km. It's 3.8km from the Ferry Terminal on the Corso though.
Penrose State Forest is 1.8km from Penrose Station.
Wingello State Forest is 2.8km From Wingello Station.
is another option. It's a 11km from Ourimbah train station or 5km from Wyong Station
Mount Hay Rd leura blue mountains, out and back about 5 kk from station
Just a few km from Chatswood station and the new station at Delhi Road
if you are keen, and don't mind the travel.
train to Central, train to Circular Quay
ferry to Manly
Map Link - cycle to the dam start area
My stupid... why didn't I think of that?
Lane Cove National Park - about 1km from epping station
I ride from turramurra station, through st ives (cascades?? - not sure of the trail names) to manly dam or vice versa, you could do return too. I live in randwick and dont have a car and often get the ferry to manly, just look out for the magpies on the way to the dam....
thanks for the input guys much appreciated
