Crankbrothers Joplin
I have issues using a QR seat clamp as I find I constantly am hitting my inside right knee on the release. Therefor I'm looking at getting a crankbrothers joplin remote seat post. I am just after any feedback from people who have used these before mainly regarding 2 things;
1. Do they rattle a lot as I don't like rattle noises coming from my bike
2. Does anyone use these with a saddle bag or would it be too heavy
Cheers
Brian

Hans has a Joplin with a saddle bag so that works. Although he was having all sorts of issues with the seat clamp (the part grabbing the rails) coming loose over in NZ.
Why not turn the clamp round or ditch the QR and get a simple collar? Do you change the post position that much?
You can't turn it around as giant have the split at the back and the QR needs to have a decent grip otherwise the saddle slowly drops. I normally have a simple collar but put the QR on when I know it a techy ride. I have much more confidence and therefor fun if the seat is lower

Yes - you can use a saddle bag with a Joplin. No rattling noises. Make sure that if you buy one that it has the 2nd gen of seat clamps (the orange/red anodised bits, I've upgraded mine with the stronger new version, $45).
My clamps needed to be re-adjusted a couple of times as I run the seat set back quite a bit (= more of my 88 kgs at the back of the seat) - the Enduro had a Thomson layback with 25 mm layback, the Joplin clamp is approx. 15 mm layback.
A cheaper overall solution for you may be to add the special carbon post "grease" that reduces seat post slippage....it has some tiny plastic granules in it. Works for Alu posts too. RITCHEY Liquid Torque http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=A0083
Hey Brian, good to see you at the dam the other day.
What if you carried one of these?
I haven't changed my seat post height for a few months.
Hi Noel, good to see you. I had a big off on the second lap and banged up my arm pretty good. I do carry an allen key but it just a pain to get it out.
I can see if you want to go down stuff like that then you might be dropping the seat more than the average bear.
