Awaba XC laps
Just up Jenkins Road from corner with Mount Faulk Road. See for details.
Okay, as discussed previously, I have not been to Awaba before and am very keen to have a trundle around the XC trail. Who's keen?
I have posted the ride for Australia day, as my other upcoming weekends are already full.
I plan on doing 3 or 4 laps, depending on daytime temps. These forests can get pretty hot (probaby noone needs any reminders of Ourimbah for the 12 hour). There is also the possibility of setting up a BBQ and downing a beer afterwards, if you were also keen for that.
All skill leves are welcome, as this is intended to be a social ride, so those that are faster paced may have to separate and ride out in front. I am fine with that. And it will mean that everyone gets what they want out of the ride.
I will be turn up in a blue Mazda. Hopefully I will see you there!! I am looking forward to this one!!
Were you there and have a story to tell?

Damn, can't make it because I have to ski in Canada that day! FYI, unless you have a 4WD, park at the entrance to the driveway and start your lap from there - you will see track arrows. The driveway is pretty sketchy at the moment and low cars have no chance of making it up.
We made it up today without too much trouble, just need to take it easy.
Just found out that I'm sailing at the regatta so I cannot make this Sorry Liam - looking forward to a full report with photos of the trail though!
Tom
I'll be there, first ride for me on the new bike.
Hello all,
As was briefly discussed by pi11wizard in my earlier thread: http://nobmob.com/node/12230
Does anyone want to have a BBQ after this ride on Australia Day?? pi11wizard?? Are you wanting to come along too?? If we can manage this, it would be good to have a beer and BBQ after the riding. I could bring the snags and sauce, but unfortunately do not have a BBQ to take.
Cheers all!!
if yes, i have a small 30l esky and would be happy to bring something simple (e.g. bbq chicken [broken up], woolworths pasta salad, soft drink), plastic plates, cups, knives and forks ... i also have 2 x 10l water containers that i can freeze up before the trip ... let me know though before the shops close tonight as the cupboards and fridge currently don't have much on offer ... alternatively we could just ride and POQ after ... either way is fine with me ...
cheers
b.
I will not be staying for a bbq as i have another to attend.
Hi, I'll bring my small gas bbq for anyone staying
Thanks marks. I believe Gilbo will also be bringing a camp BBQ, so that should let the snags cook twice as fast!
See you all tomorrow morning. Can't wait for this ride, new trails!!
So how was it?
it would be even nicer if it were only 10 min from Sydney CBD ... envy the locals ...
...
great ride today & good company, nice to meet you all & thanks byron for the food. hope you don't have to eat too many sausages & pasta salad.
Great ride and what a great track, so much work must have gone into building this singletrack - massive raps for the trail fairies. Thanks too for the BBQ and food, was a top day.
Harry, seeing you are out on the trails I assume your back is ok now?
Cheers
Brian
I am coming back Brian, will take another 5 months to be as strong as before I stacked but it's not causing me any real grief if I don't push it, so yeah I am doing non technical riding again.
Glad you all enjoyed it.
From my perspective it was great to drive into the place and see it absolutely packed with people.
The new sections have started to bed in well and should be awesome in a few weeks. Some really good terrain in amongst the new trails and the stuff to come next is different again.
Thank you all to those that came along and enjoyed some great riding on a new track, despite the heat!! I just wish it was the same distance to my house that Manly Dam is. You can't have everything.
We are sure to be going back there again. Sammydog, when you are doing some more maintenance, please make sure you post it on Nobmob as I reckon you will get some Sydney city slickers along for the ride.
Lets go again!!
(I will eventually post a trail review for this place. Give me a week or two...)
darn !!! i will definately be going back even if it is just for that ...
Did you guys give it a go?
I enjoyed the new track so much i'm going back again this weekend, & this time i will try the pie line. Anyone want to come saturday arvo or sunday morning?I think i may even prefer this track to Ourimbah now.
Bluray just be aware there is a HMBA Club Race on this Sunday.
D
thanks for the heads up, will have to go out saturday arvo instead.
Can't do this weekend but sure can next.
