CCOMTB - Club Race - 2010 Round 3 DEMTEL CHALLENGE
North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.
Awesome race at the best track around (ok, so I'm biased). Come along and race, and be home for lunch. Please park at the upper car park, I believe the lower one shouldn't be used by MTB riders any more.
XC Race day Fees are $15.00 plus an additional $15 for an MTBA day license if you don't have one. Registration is from 8am, racing starts at 9.30 sharp.

just wondering if anybody else is having trouble getting the results from the last two races? i can't seem to pull them up??
I cant seem to find the results either. What is the Demtel challenge? do you get a set of steak knives when you enter, or is it a but wait there's more ?
Demtel Hill is a rather nasty climb... one can only assume the course for the day will go up there. How many laps will you be doing?
have fun with that rocky, snotty, mongrel of a hill they don't call it demtel for nothing. but wait there's more.it's hard enough in a social ride let alone during a race.
Well.. It's an OK once up hill, second couple of times might hurt a little though but the good news is that the track might come back down some of the DH track - woohoo!
I've been struggling to get results too. The first rounds are up but not the second. I know they have a new web-master, it might be something to do with that.
think i'll post a ride for saturday, maybe check it out!
Since killer ups are so much me I'm really looking foward to this. (note sarcasim)
I hope this DH you speak of Dylan makes a worthy payback for the climb
Trev, I'm no expert in DH but I love the DH at Ourimbah. There are 2 sections I won't ride, an A line rock bridge jump near the top, and a mental new jump at the finish. The rest is a hoot and really smooth and fast.
The CCOMTB put a lot of work into it and I reckon it's tops, but this is coming from an XC rider... some others will no doubt have a better opinion.
my guess is that once you get to the top of demtel you'll turn left & go down one of the older downhill tracks over the back of the mountain which is a great ride with some tight twisty corners, but i am only guessing.
this means i'll have no chance against those local riders on the day! That guy who came second to me in round one is a good technical rider and ill be riding that part of the course for the first time! May have to arrive early for this one boys and get a practice lap in?
I've got a question going on the CCOMTB forum to try to work out the route... might help to know exactly where it goes.
You'll be OK though Gazza, as long as you take some tools this time
There is a ride planned for this weekend if you want to really nail it.
Update on the course here: http://www.ccomtb.com.au/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=...
Sounds brilliant to me..
Went to Ourimbah this morning and think we followed the course as described on CCOMTB. The Demtel hill is a bit tough of course, it will be especially tough in race mode.
The descent back to Five Ways is pretty technical too, so watch that one.
It's tempting...
It will be a tough climb at race pace.
And the decent will be just as tricky at speed its quite technical in places.
Should be a good race - C grade for me.
Anyone know what distance this race is going to be? Me and my friends are thinking of coming up to do some training before the Mont but we're all juniors
A grade, 4 laps
B grade, 3 laps,
C grade, 2 laps
D grade, 1 lap
laps are usually around 10km long but due to the course variation( Demtel hill) i think its a little shorter. be warned, the hill hurts! but will be good training!
Depending on how my prep is going for the Mont, I might make the trek up for a bit of b grade training....
Got a busy afternoon after it so have to get home in good time.
Very tempting to have a decent race on a brilliant track one week out from the Mont
How did it go?
