CCOMTB - Club Race - 2010 Round 4
Enter via Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. On your right will be 'TreeTops' for the kids and it's large-ish carpark. Carry on past there and the first small clearing which is were parking used to be, and is where the 'Browns' single track turns (you might see riders on your left here).
Parking and official trail head is now designated a further 350m or so up the road where a there is a larger area. There's a CCOMTB sign here by the trail entrance (on the left as you drive up). Park up nose to curb or as directed.
Awesome race at the best track around (ok, so I'm biased). Come along and race, and be home for lunch. Please park at the upper car park, I believe the lower one shouldn't be used by MTB riders any more.
XC Race day Fees are $15.00 plus an additional $15 for an MTBA day license if you don't have one. Registration is from 8am, racing starts at 9.30 sharp.

im thinking of going just for a bit of fun, this would be my first race so i'd probably be hitting up C grade and not setting the world on fire with times. I will know a little closer to event
... I haven't done any club racing here so why not. C grade sounds nice
Bugger WSMTB XC race 2 is on the same day.
Yeah... I find it odd that the clubs were trying to encourage racing, but then both have rounds on the same day. Yellomundee and Ourimbah are the two closest tracks to Sydney so you'd expect some riders to want to do both. You note there's an enduro at Lisdale that day too.
Its a little frustrating but between the two clubs I can race at least every month sometimes twice a month and thats plenty.
There is an enduro on that day but as there is no solo masters category it doesnt even get a look in.
I was thinking of heading up there with a mate that morning for a few hours as both our families are part of a large booking at Treetops nearby later in the day. Is there any scope to ride XC tracks not being used for the race or does the race make this impossible?
What time will the tracks re-open for public use?
Alternatively, how long are the race laps? One lap in D Grade doesn't sound like much of a training ride for the DW and I don't think they'd appreciate the mobile chicanes in the higher grades
What time do you think this will be all finished by? My wife has a 1PM soccer game in Sydney. Could I make it?
How fast do you ride? I am slow, rode b grade (2 laps) and was back in Narrabeen at about 1.30pm after rd 2. Hope this helps.
Thanks Trev. I think I might just be able to make it.
How does the day run? sorry if this is a stupid question but I have never entered a race before.
or earlier, que up for 15 mins, get a day lisence and register. C or D grade if you've never raced before, C would be better as it's two laps(about 2 x 10km)
racing starts at 9.30 starting with A grade then about 2 minute intervals in between other grades.
you'll be crapping yourself on the start line if you've never raced before but relax, once you get going it's awesome fun! it's real heart in your mouth stuff if you really wanna get in there and give it a go, otherwise, hang back and keep a steady pace and just enjoy the ride!
once the race is over, everyone has a little chat then buggers off home!
i'll be staying i think to do some extra km's up the firetrail.
Thanks, Yeah I was planning turning up around that time. C grade was what I was thinking. I wont be setting the world on fire with speed ( approx 38 mins Dam Lap ) so I'll be cruising and just having some fun getting amongst it all. Is there anything else I should know ? do I need a MTBA licence or does entry cost's etc cover this?
15 bucks for a day license! easy!
ENJOY!
You and Steve having another ding dong tomorrow Gazza?
hopefully it'll be clean cut and i'll give him the flogging he deserves!
Racing aren't you?
Apparently the Ibis is race ready and almost 450g lighter...
Doesn't Steve realise taking the bearings out of his hubs and pivots is a bad idea?
.... it's not about the bike!
