Mt Buller MTB Festival
Registration area at 7:30am Saturday morning
STAGE 1 – CORN HILL CRANKER:
A 20 - 25km race on the new single track network established around the Mt Buller area with plenty of lung busting climbs, burned descents, snow gums, mountain views and alpine.
This challenging course will take in a range of trails around Mt Buller including (easy) sections of the ABOM downhill, the custom built single tracks around Corn Hill like Mistry Twisty, Silk Lane, fast sections of the 2WD Corn Hill rd, and as an addition for the 2010 event, some of the newly completed trails around One Tree Hill and the village area. This is a short but sharp race on some superb, custom built single tracks and the ideal way to get your weekend under way.
STAGE 2 – THE BRAKE-BURNER
The Brake–Burner is a 4hr mutli lap enduro down a flowing XC-downhill course where you get to the bottom, catch the lift up and then do it again. Most laps wins.
What does that mean…? Imagine a 4km cross country trail that descends 300m+ over its entire length; a trail that’s made up of flowing downhill single track interspersed with short sections of double track plus the odd little climb, a trail that’s fun to ride on a cross country bike and comes together as a super fun descent that you’d love to do again and again. Then add in a chair lift to get you back to the top again and then repeat for 4 hrs, with the rider who does the most laps being the winner = this is a Brake-Burner… how cool does that sound!
Brake-burner enduro’s are the hottest new races around with more and more popping up around the world but this will be the first in Australia and a revolutionary event all riders will love.
STAGE 3 – THE STIRLING CIRCUIT
A 50 km race along a mixture of single track and scenic 4wd tracks over spectacular Mount Stirling and the upper reaches of the Howqua valley and back again.
This is riding as it used to be - a long trail ride/race in a magnificent part of the world, through towering Alpine Ash, over mountain summits well above the tree line, through magnificent stands of snow gums on undulating 4WD tracks in the wilderness. This is an incredibly scenic alpine loop made even sweeter by the inclusion of a chairlift ride back up Mt Buller at the end, saving the legs for the final swoop to the finish.
STAGE 101 – THE KIDS RACE
A fun 10 km race designed especially for kids and new comers to the sport! This race will give them an unforgettable MTB experience riding the trails around the village. Starting and finishing amongst all the spectators and riders in the Bike Expo.
The premier format is for riders to compete in all three (adults) races with the fastest cumulative time for males and females being crowned Bike Buller’s Best and the champion of the weekend. Alternatively, if you are new to riding, can’t make it for the whole weekend or need to juggle the kids then you can pick and choose to do which ever races you like and just do one or two races.
Event Extras
A party-till-you-drop rider’s celebration on Saturday night at the ABOM.
Bike Expo with a range of bike industry stands, display and more.
Plenty of activities and things for non riders to do – bring the family.
Range of discounted accommodation on the mountain to suit any budget or style.
Round out the weekend with a casual BBQ and presentations on Sunday afternoon.
ALL IN ALL, The Bike Buller MTB Festival is designed as a super fun mountain bike event for everyone with a range of awesome races on unforgettable trails, popular new formats and scenic rides through beautiful wilderness. Mix this with a friendly vibe, the chance to catch up with your mates for a beer mid way through and a killer BBQ at the end and you have an MTB event that everyone can be part of.

Hi Boaty,
I am intending to leave early Friday morning (5:00am) and hope to arrive early Friday afternoon. It would be good to have a look around and check out the course before we have to ride it, so having a ride on Friday afternoon sounds good. My mobile number is 0417 249228.
Have you booked in to the Bistro on Saturday night? It costs $20 if you pre-book and $25 if you pay on Saturday.
