GNR
Wisemans Ferry - by the East ferry crossing (turn right bottom of the hill). There is a good parking area by the kiosk here.
I'm heading out to GNR Saturday morning with a couple of mates and any fellow NobMob people that are interested.
Aiming to leave Nthn Beaches around 7:30am.
The plan:
Go up Devines Hill (short and sharp but gets us to the top of the hill and the fun stuff quickly). Ride along Great North Road for an out-back, and going back down the hill via Shepherds Gully. Then a bit of road riding (9km, easy) back to the ferry.
See for an example that worked out to 33km total.
Length of the ride can be varied by riding further along the GNR possibly out to Clares Bridge (total about 44km). Take this as it goes on the day and we may split into two groups if anyone is keen on a longer ride (hint hint…)
There is an optional “chicken-out” short cut home by walking back down Devines Hill instead of Shepherds Gully. Shepherds Gully is supposedly a bit technical but a lot of fun.
Were you there and have a story to tell?

Hi, what time (approximately will do - i'll take your mobile) do you reckon you will be at GNR?
Cheers
b.
Ahhh... confusion abounds. Please post meeting times as the 'ready to ride' time at the location you're riding at.
Hiya
Sorry about the confusion
Let's say 9:00am at Wiseman's Ferry, ready to ride!
I've heard the weather may be up to 30 degrees tomorrow so don't want to leave it any later.
Grab my mobile number from my profile or pm me.
Cheers,
Jon
i'm travelling there with beroccaboy
thanks jon for organising this ... had fun ...
ps: cracked 50km/h during one of the downhill sections ...
cheers
b.
What a great place to ride!
Had a good day - thanks boys and girls.
I loved the 'steps' and technical bits on the GNR trail; great fun.
And as for the hills - well the fun going down them makes up for the slog climbing
(BTW @ b: you're a bit of a demon on the downhill! Impressive Especially for someone who hasn't been riding that long.)
I'll be heading back out there again soon.
Oh yeah, another Garmin thingy:
Beer at the pub is pretty good too!!!
Now to get some rest and maybe some sleep tonight...
cheers
Jon
