Heading to the Mont ....
Our forward scout Bernd reports that the cops are out in force and have pulled over several cars with bikes hanging on the back, covering their plates. Please make sure you are not in for the $ 300 fine. I have a "improvised, but readable plate" until the ordered plates from RTA arrive.
Good luck!

Thats no good. Your only legal option is to unscrew your main numberplate and attach it behind the bikes. Otherwise as well as the 3 demerit points(doubled?) and the $300 you could get done for a forged numberplate as somebody earlier on this site was threatened with.
You were lucky not to be pinged for that plate. I was pulled over by a motocycle cop on Friday just because the rack plate was swinging a bit.
The guy tried to give me a, "Napping were you..." dressing down before I explained exactly when it was he appeared in my mirror, when he hit his lights and why I didn't see fit to pull over on a bridge but go another couple hundred metres further before parking safely. Perhaps showing powers of observations helps somewhat with the law?
[Edit... BTW, I was let off with a warning, so...]
Anyhow - looks like I'll be getting a trailer board now. Funny, 'cos we were only just discussing this in the Blurred plate thread.
BTW, Hans... why have you an obsession with round dangly bits? You are a worry!!
So did he ping you or let you go?
The rta plates are pretty cheap, im pretty sure mine was $35.
that's the pain.
Hawkeye, do they actually legally require you to have the extra bike rego plates seperately lit? I've never seen such requirements ever mentioned, but that could just be cause they don't publicise it?
