Ive currently got a dart 3 fork witch is you no what and am very unhappy with it.

Im looking for something smooth, something that takes the small bumps and not just rattle my brain to pieces and also have enough travel to take some bigger ones.

Ive been looking at the rock shox tora 318 u turn and it seems to be what i want, is it any good? Are there any other forks like this i should no of.

And am i better of with coil or air not very sure with that department...

Thanks once again everyone

Jono

My Revelation (air) shocks get great reviews and I can't fault em - I would suggest you should jump a few levels in the Rockshox / Fox catalogue to get a much better shock. Just look around the specials bins online and you get a bargain.
Found this 50% OFF in 2 mins -
"Rockshox Recon Race Solo Air 100mm, rrp $699 TBSM $349.95! a high performance fork at a mid-range price? at a light weight (1828g). Display fork, Does not include box, does not include pop lock!"

before spending up on upgrades - is the bike worth the spend or would it be better to upgrade totally.

I have an older Tora 318 Air which I have used for about three years. It is not quite as smooth as the Fox F100 on my other bike but works well. The main drawback is the weight because of the steel stanchions. Bike magazines are always saying that the Tora is good value for money. The one you are looking at is a coil shock which is a little different to mine, make sure that it comes with the correct spring for you weight.

This fork http://www.torpedo7.com.au/products/ROFKFN9R1/ti... is on sale for a couple of days and would be awesome and is a full half a kilo lighter than the Tora. Not sure if your hub can take a 20mm maxle lite axle though.

I don't wanna spend an incredible amount on my bike, just enough to make my bike smoother and soak up the small bumps, i don't plan on spending more then my bike is worth and i really cant afford a new bike right now, especially what i want Sticking out tongue

And is the motion control a gimmick? is it worth haveing.

Btw my bike is a specialized rock hopper.

for a full suspension frame.

If you go too long on the front forks/travel on your current ride, you can end up stressing your frame and folding/breaking it behind the headtube.

Save your pennies for a good used one D/S bike. Oh, and get a job. Eye-wink

I was told the same thing Jonathon I know it is hard to take in ! I was looking to upgrade my first dually when I had it even changed the forks for a few weeks before selling them . U either sell it the way it is or keep it as a back up & go full suspension with all the gear something similar too what I got it was worth $3000.00 when it came out it might be a few years old but you are paying heaps more now for the same spec bike .
