Hoping to hit up Garrigal NP this weekend for all those interested, mostly wide open fire trail with some hills. If its raining I wont be riding this trail as it is prone to flooding in places.

Meet at: Stone Pde in Davidson at trail head to National Park

Ride time: 8.30am

Ride Duration: Hoping to ride for close to 2-3 hours more if we can handle it.

Bring plenty of water and some munchies.

Hope to see some of you there for a spin on Sat.

Cheers

Sam

Are you planning on riding any specific track?

davis_jnr's picture

I am planning on riding as many as possible i guess....can't remember all the names of the trails in the park but would like to cover a fair bit of ground in the alotted time frame, if we ride longer then happy days i guess.

Hi Sam,

There are a sprinkling of single trails in there. Some easy, some more difficult. Do you think you guys would be interested in some rocky roll-off action? Or do you think this will be mainly be a hilly fire trail affair?

If the riders on this one are not interested, that's okay. Not trying to push for any particular ride. Just want to see what you guys are interested in doing.

Cheers,
Liam.

count me in, see you all there.

Liam,

Prob will do all of the above if they are on offer, last time i rode this with Rob we found a new single track i'd not ridden. I'll be trying to find it again but we will be doing the hills for sure.....it'll be good training for your epic northern beaches ride....

I know a few single trails as well, so we can try and locate them somewhere along the way. So I will be there too. Awesome!

If the impending rain hits us tomorrow please give me a call as I do not have the internet hooked up at home yet....(yes i know i'm slack!)

I will most probably be NOT riding in the rain, dont wish to get washed away, the cascades are prone to flash flooding from time to time.

Give me a call though tomorrow from about 7:30am onwards if its not looking too good where you are.

Cheers

Sam

Okay Sam, we can call or text on Sat morning. Got your number.

I'd like to go look around Garigal as well. There's a lot less driving involved!

Nice one today. Excellent ride for all and was well worth the hit out. We will need to do this ride again soon!

(Well, with the exception of the effluent flowing over the trail. I've heard riders "talk" effluent before, but this is ridiculous!)

MTY's picture

Hi

Which trails did you ride, and can you give a description of the trails?

btw, what's trail effluent?

Thanks
MTY

I can put a GPS trail up soon. I'm back at work for a few hours...

It was a fun ride, though the good bits were a bit beyond my abilities. Liam seemed to enjoy it!

I had a stupid stack while walking. You told us that it was easier to ride than to walk, so guess what, I walked and fell in a hilarious fashion! Bit scraped up, some tender bits, but no real issue. It'll just make me look more 'rugged' for the ladies!

Some sort of drainage problem where sewerage drains burst or overflowed onto the trail. Hence the effluent comment. We had to ride through it on the way back. Quite on the nose, if you know what I mean. We commented that the local residents would be happy. Not.

I think Sam will have more information about the actual fire trails we rode. I know the place okay, as I have been there a few times before. But I am hopeless at remembering the names of fire trails. I just know various places from recognising them visually.

Ian, that drop in was awesome fun. Don't even look at it to size it up. Just drop right in there!! Anyway, you'll know better for next time. Make sure you practice. "The wheel is better than the foot." Smiling

Was the smell you experienced just before the up hill bitumen covered section leading up to Davidson? if so that trail is part of Cascades and I smelt it last week too!

Little-Ditty's picture

I think so. Whatever it is, I hope that gets fixed soon.

Greg, lots of hill climbing today. Me and Evan were struggling in places. Good practice to be sure, but we also rode some single trails, just like last week. You would have enjoyed it. Some nice little technical bits that you would eat up.

Apart from a bit of humidity, it was a top ride. Thanks to all that came.
I now have worked out water vs powerade/gatorade/endura ratios. Water in the camelbak and electrolyte drink in a separate bottle.
