Red Hill

Anybody been up Red Hill over the weekend - just wondering what the conditions are like.

The Somme was the site of a major trench battle in WW1.

WW1 battlefield in France which was very wet and muddy for the troops trying to fight and live in trenches.

Its a misconception that the battle of the somme was fought in conditions such as those shown in the photo. Somme lasted 8 months and its only towards the end ofthe battle that the conditions prevented further "progress". If you want to talk mud talk Paschendale {which is where that photo is from} in Belgium.
So in order to be historically accurate Red hill currently in the paschendale range of dampness
