Sending a bike to NZ (and back)

Hi, for various reasons when I head off to Rotorua, New Zealand in October for a holiday and to then compete in the Single Speed Worlds (beer drinking competition) I won’t be able to fly with my bike.

So, I was wondering if anybody knew a good way to send a bike from here to there – and back again for a reasonable fee?
What mean is, UPS just quoted me $800AUD one way! – Crazy..
Of course I will have the bike professionally boxed. And the weight should be no more the about 14kg’s maximum once boxed up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

try them, but UPS,TNT and DHL are all express services(expensive airplanes).I work for TNT I'll ask our International co-ordinater what our price for 14kg(bike box) would be.

price as UPS, the big killer in price is the volume of the item, its a rort

Well I originally wanted to send a bike over as I thought it would be too cheeky to take 2 bikes on the plane. I rang the airline today who told me no problem, bring 2 bikes and it will cost me an extra $60 each way. I like that solution!
Thanks for asking the boss what the score was for me though Smiling
