Hi!

I am wondering if someone kind one could share a drive from Sydney (expense incl) to Terrey Hills this Saturday?

(being very new to Sydney have not got a car - but do have a mountain bike =)

You could write on my email

[email protected]

Kind regards, Sasha

Email sent.

Would anyone be keen for West Head and Akuna scumming afterwards

Or is that just me being completly insane?

Rob's picture

If you want more kays just do DH+C Sticking out tongue

Brian's picture

I would say insane just for the fact you want to scum after a trail ride when you can just ride more trails.

Logan's picture

Which I have not had a chance to use yet, hence why I was asking.

Yeah could just do more trail K's I guess.

ScottM's picture

Is this likely to be a social/n00b style ride like those in the past? The missus (Gigantor) has just started clipping in, so we're after an easy paced ride to break them in.

I haven't been on a nobmob ride for almost a year now, so it's probably time I show my face again...

Rob's picture

Hey... it's billed as super easy so sure you'll be fine Smiling

Mark's picture

Am new to the sport and am keen to get involved and learn some trails
See you there

Jonathan,
I should be able to call in to terrey hills at 9 tomorrow if you want to try a bike with Tora shocks.
See you then.

thank you very much really appreciate it!

I just picked up an XT crankset this evening and would like to give it a run tomorrow. Alas, I don't have the "special" tool required to do up the crank nut. According the manual it's called "TL-FC16/18" and looks like a little thumb wheel.

Does anyone have one of these they could bring along tomorrow morning so I can do up the nut before I ride?

I'm not sure I even need it, it says 1.5Nm of torque which is basically finger tight?? Thoughts?

Cheers,
Scott.

@ScottM - Will bring the toolbox and try and be a bit early.

at this stage have fallen into the trap of drinking in the office again....

naz's picture

wouldn't mind for bit of fun

Dibbler's picture

I’ll be dropping a mate off to go on the ride while I will be road riding straight home because of other arrangements. He has recently migrated from the UK without a computer.

Brian's picture

Yeah that was a Super Easy Terrey Hills ride Eye-wink. Ended up doing 48kms.

That was fun. I think the splitting into two groups was a good idea. Hopefully my youngster will be a bit fitter next time - he's threatening to do Manly Dam daily over the school holidays. (He must have enjoyed himself )

Interestingly, when we got home and I saw his bike next to mine I thought "my fork seems to be missing some travel". Sure enough, I only had 90mm instead of 130mm. I let the air out and 5 minutes later after a quick reset it was fine. Must have been like that for awahile. My only problem is now the bars feel much too high. Time for a shopping trip....

The outstanding achievement award for "Most Enjoyment on a Mountain Bike Ride" goes to Sasha - the guy was absolutely beaming in the car on the trip back to Roseville Station. LOL! And it was infectious - Sasha, it was a pleasure to haave you along and you're welcome to join us any time. Smiling

Brian's picture

What do you mean a quick reset and how do you measure how much travel you have when the fork is not exposed.

twotommos's picture

Well my second ride with the Mob was fantastic and my first time on Duck hole and centre was enjoyable. Well done everyone!

Rob's picture

Yeah, it was an awesome ride, thanks all.

It's good the split all worked out. As I said to a few people, it's really hard on a big group, but people soon figure out who they are suited to riding with and the like.

@ScottM - no-one asked for the crank tool so guessing you weren't amongst us? Was that you we saw on the return with his lady friend? How'd the clips go?

hawkeye's picture

Leftys sometimes lose a bit of their travel if the pin race bearings migrate from their installed position. They all do it to a greater or lesser extent, and resolving it is a simple periodic maintenance task which your manuals cover. I measured mine against Josh's - he had 140mm between bottom of steerer tube (nominally 130mm travel) and tyre, and I had 100mm. Since resetting, it's back to 140mm, giving about 10mm clearance between tyre and frame at 100% compression.

Here's a thread from mtbr that fleshes out how to do it. A couple of the contributors are Lefty specialist mechanics.

Thanks everyone - enjoyed that

This was a great day out...almost felt like spring! Nice to see the rangers clearing the tree across Long Trail - even on a Saturday.

Great sunshine, great views and great appreciation of our beautiful scenery and trails by the "international crew"....we had riders from Russia, Norway, Ireland etc. Overall a good turnout of 18 riders....some familiar faces and some new ones.... Hope to see you all again soon! (Thx to Rob for organising)

The "A" team took it easy, the "R" team (R for 'roid) had to do a penalty lap of "Duckhole and Centre" trails. Eye-wink

Here is the "money shot" of the "A" team on Perimeter Trail... Eye-wink

Great day out! The

Cheers, Hans

Happiness is a warm shock....

ScottM's picture

Yes, that was us you saw on the way back. We had some technical difficulties with my pedals and unfortunately missed the start of the ride. The clips were fine, so much so that we spent today at Red Hill and she rode pretty much everything without clipping out and only had a few silly tumbles. I was mighty impressed!

Sasco's picture

And a big thank you to Hawkeye and his son Josh who kindly offered a drive to/from Roseville station!!

I am very impressed with the riding company, scenery and terrain!!
