Where to ride in Menai
So the girly and I have this Friday off work and we'd like to go for a ride at Menai (weather permitting). We've never ridden here before and looking at Google Earth, there seems to be a lot of out-and-back trails and no obvious loop back to the car.
Are there any preferred routes that people regularly join up to make a decent ride? We're looking for more techincal riding, not fire trails if that makes a difference.
Any suggestions on where to go? Are we likely to get lost having never been there with no gps or maps?
Cheers,
Scott.

and some great loops wich can be linked up to form an epic ride
but I had to do several exploration rides before i was able to navigate around
without getting lost, so many options to ride it can be frustrating
best off going on one of the many posted rides out there and have a guided tour so you can learn where the best trails are!
and roam, roam, roam. Just last Sunday I hit a particularly rich vein of flow, and found heaven on earth with a never-ending line of singletrack. Only started finding my way around the place myself, but you'll (I'll) gradually figure it out.
BUT it's prob best to tag along with someone who knows the place. First time I went there I was lost for 3 hours, but now I've gotten quite good at reading tyre tracks...
but there isnt a loop circuit style to get back out so you'll need to road it back or through the firetrails, if you decide to hug the creek all the way through. it is good single track though.
A quick circuit would be to keep hanging a right until you get to the downhill playground of kickers and drops until you get to the creek bed and you'll find a trail back up to the left ridge, where the soccer field is and head back home that way.
Sounds like a good little intro circuit.
I think I can sorta make out where that goes from looking at Google.
I reckon we'll do some mini self exploration on Friday and wait for the next big Menai ride for the full tour.
Cheers!
