I notice this on a consistent basis. Whenever someone rants on the teev or the radio, the attitude from drivers for the rest of the week becomes downright dangerous.
This morning I had a redneck in a fish wholesaler's delivery van tailgate me down the last part of my commute down Sussex St. He refused to pass when I indicated he should - and there was no traffic in the next lane. So I moved to the right lane instead, since I had to turn right at the next driveway.
He pulled up on my left at the lights so I asked him what the tailgating was about. He just stared at me with an obviously well-practiced filthy look. I stared back. He lost the staring competition.
All I know is after riding bikes as transport for over 20 years I have learnt to be like Jesus and turn the other cheek and know you have not lowered to the level of the confronter. why be cause they may respond in a more aggressive and painful/fatal way and 2 the next and possibly less experienced cyclist may cop it.
I go out of my way to wave and thank drivers pedestrians and other road users who do the right thing by me while ignoring the . . . . Alan Jones fans
Both annoys the s%$t out of peak hour car drivers.
Nothing is more painful and frustrating than one pedalling person or a stop start bus to break the free flowing traffic.
And, I like Alan Jones
The man gains his ratings by stirring his audience up and getting them upset and angry about stuff. Which, I might add he is very good at. He contributes nothing positive of any substance. His currency is indignation and hate. And he chooses easy targets.
His only virtue is that he makes lots of money - for some people - spitting bile and invective and targeting the lowest common denominator.
No respect. The man is scum.
