Hey, Is anyone able to give me an idea of what the Del Rio xc course is like. In terms of how technical it is, how does it compare with say yarramundi or ourimbah?

The climb up has some very steep bits. Depending on the route some technical rock sections to clear.

Then there is some easy fire trail along the ridge.

Then the best bit of the course the descent down the gully. Yes, this descent does have it's technical moments so care is needed.

You can't really compare to the courses you mention as it's much shorter, but if you can clean Ourimbah you should be ok.

Just hope that it doesn't rain there again! They haven't had the best run with weather there in the past.

Hi guys,

We've posted the track map for the upcoming Rocky Trail MTB Grand Prix - Round 3 (GP4 and GP8 hour) at Del Rio. You can download it from here:

We'll be there from Friday, so if you wanted to join us for the GP you could do a test run that afternoon. The track really only has 2 tech sections: The Rockgarden and 661 S. On Wednesday Martin and I were there to make the rockgarden a bit smoother and it has easier lines now. Having said that both sections are very short (20m) so worst comes to worst you can walk them and ride the rest. All the climbing is done on roads for this race to make it easier too. In terms of difficulty I'd say it's harder than Yellomundee, definitely easier than Appin and about par with Ourimbah and Yellomundee.

I hope this helps Eye-wink

Thanks,
Juliane

Thanks Rob and trailbunny for your responses.
I know it's hard to compare courses in terms of tech levels but all information helps.
Lets hope for nice sunny weather Smiling

Guess what Buck you mentioned the rain....... Heres hoping they get a fine weekend to run this race. If this rain keeps up though the course could be a bit wet come the weekend.

once you're there you can ask the guys from Rocky Trail, they'll be there setting up, i think you can register that night from 7pm or there abouts.

Can anyone tell me how much elevation was gained for the Del Rio 4 hour endurance lap? Need it to compare to future races. Is there an elevation profile somewhere of it? I thought there was on the Rocky website but looks like they took it down. Thanks in advance.

Is this what your after. I did 9 laps for 1282m.

way on your first lap or something ? Or you were checking out the area?

No I was stuck in the traffic jam for the first two laps through the single track. I guess its just the GPS getting bad reception through the tree cover that leads to the variation in plotted course.
