Central West ridefest kinross and Lidsdale
The city of Orange is around 4 hrs from Sydney and 3 hrs from Canberra. Kinross State Forest is situated on the northeast edge of town, a 10 minute drive or 20 minute ride from the Orange town centre.
Meet at the Bulgas Road carpark, Western edge of the forest.
meet at kinross sat morn and ride till worn out on some of the best single track in the area then camp in orange or motel it if prefered ,then drive back to Lidsdale on sunday morning and join Flynnys fairwell to Lidsdale ride, all great xc fun ,or just join the Lidsdale ride on sunday
due to the fact that orange is expecting 20 to 40 mm of rain on friday and snow on saturdaywith a top of 8 deg.we have decided to postpone this ride ,allthough we will still be joining Flynnys Lidsdale ride on sunday.
Were you there and have a story to tell?

the new plan is to camp at bathust so we are closer to Lidsdale for sunday morning, just breaks up the traveling a bit. Also alocal rider Grant has responded to my post and will be able to show us around Kinross on saturday
Sounds good Craig
If Grant is confirmed for Saturday I wont bother with sending an email through to the club. I see they also have a club race planned for the Sunday, so tracks should be in great condition.
If weather stays good it should be a good weekend - looks like plenty of trails at Kinross to keep us busy.
The night at Bathurst also seems much easier drive to make Lidsdale on the sunday.
Wayne
mmm 20 to 40 mm of rain predicted for wednesday and thurs in Orange , should be ok on weekend but may still be very wet!
Craig
Lets wait and see how the rain pans out.
If we get too much rain let's rely on some local advice to give us a trail update before leaving on Saturday.
If there is a club race on Sunday it should be pretty easy to get a trail status update on Friday. Note the last two club races have been cancelled due to rain and a wet track.
Fingers crossed that weather forecast is wrong.
Wayne
Kinross really suffers in the rain and tends to hold water, so yeah keep and eye on the weather.
Lidsdale drains like an.... really good draining thing... and I reckon it's better damp than dry. So long as it's not pissing down at the time. 20min after a torrent it's generally fine.
what time is that start?
10 am sunday 17 oct
See flynny's ride post for details

See you there !
Forecast
Thursday - rain
Fiday - rain
Saturday - Chance of snow (are they kidding or what ?)
Craig we may need a plan b.
If all else fails - still happy to do the lidsdale ride. Flynny's has indicated that it handles the rain well. Maybe a litlle chilly in the mtns this weekend though.
what are we in for at Lithgow?
Cool but mostly sunny at this stage

do not know if I will drive from Newie early sun. or stay at sister in laws in SW Sydney to let me sleep in a bit?
Good stuff - at least we will get to experience lisdaale for one last time.
Hey Flynny - what can we expect at lisdlae - single track - tech - climbs - fast flowing ?
Looking fwd to giving the place a farewell.
D
Wayne I think we may have to look at kinross another time, maybe just a Sunday run at Lidsdale this weekend, sounds like a good plan B to me.
Fast and flowy. Not too many long drawn out climbs but lots of little pinches that add up.
Full lap is about 13km 9o% of which would be single trail

No Problem Craig
Lisdale on Sunday it is ! See you guys then.
Wayne
If you had decided to go to Orange it is currently 0.2 degrees C
Also, they have had 45mm rain today.

yeah saw that Brian , BRrrrr was a good decision to pull the pin on this one. but looks OK for Lithgow tomorrow
allthough will be a bit cool.
... plus some snow:
Snowing on and off today but not overly cold, suppose to be back up around 15-20 tomorrow so lidsdale will be go.
see you all there
Just hope some trees are still standing !
that open Eucalypt forest singletrack was pure class sorry I did not have the legs or lungs to hit full on!- it was worth the 600km round trip for that singletrack!!!
Thanks guys for a great day out today - perfect weather (albeit a bit chilly in the morning for us coastal folk)
Craig and I were saying on the way home, mtb'g and the people who love it are great - all very welcoming, want to show what great trails they have, no egos - this is why I like to spend time getting out there on some great trails and great people.
Again great day and a fitting farewell to some great trails.
Also did some exploration in the knapsack reserve on the way home - also some promising stuff in there as well.
The Bmorc guys are truly blessed !
