You've prolly seen this on my RB PYR ...but pfffft ... every opportunity to show of Shizz
http://www.rotorburn.com/forums/showthread.php?2...
Frame: 2010 Propain Rage 10" rear.
- Size Long
- See below RB link for suspension details.
Front Fork: 2010 Boxxer Teams
Handlebars:Sunline V1 ...
- will be replaced shortly with 750mm Kodex-racing Strut Bar
Stem: Foride Ti Passion
- Proto 106g Lightess on the market
Shifters: XTR
Mech: XT (older generation which I had laying about ... I replace it with Shadow when I smash it)
Headset: Propain 1.5" with reducer to 1 1/8
Grips: ESI Chunky with ODI end caps
- I think the thins may be better ... as some of the lads with small hands have been getting cramps (bah ... we know what thats from ... don't blame it on the grips Doods ) I really like the feel of these without gloves ... but riding without gloves has its minuses ... knuckle whips hurt.
Saddle: WTB somethings ... actually really comfy, but will prolly go for a stiff but light board at some stage to hammer the roids back
Seatpost: .243 something
- 31.6mm ... it was going to get Thomson, but I just couldn't get myself to cut them.
Brakes: Juicy 7s (07s)
- I run out of money and just wanted to ride it.
Rotors F&R: Hayes 8" F&R
Rear Shock: Cane Creek Double Barrel with 450lbs Ti
Chain Guide: Custom MRP Guide.
- Propain developed a custom frame mount with MRP, super stiff and easy to install. even I didn't muff it.
Cranks: Saints 170mm
- First time on Saints ... I likey alot.
Chain Ring: Shimano DXR 38T
Chain: not sure ... Sram 980s I think
Pedals: Wellgo Mgs
Wheelset Crank Brothers SAGE 20mm F, 150mm x 12mm R
Tyre front: 2.5 Maxxis Minions F ... F&R
Total weight:18.92kgs
a little porky ... but not bad for coil Front and Rear
Things I've been surprised with.
It accelerates and jumps nothing like I expected a 10" squishy rear would
I think I'm actually faster on it then again I have a good imagination ...

Nice boat anchor Al
Seriously looks sweet. and 18kg is not bad for a 10" travel rig
There's confidence for you!
Very nice, now let's see some pictures of it in action!
You and your unemployment eh? ;) You have to let me know what you have going "on the side" so to say
Lovely bike mate! My old Glory is looking very old now... Hurry up and release the Phoenix already!
Grrat looking machine Al, Ah Gub, the phoenix!!!, when is this coming?..my bike arrives on the 14th...happy days!
Apparently the Phoenix is getting released December/January... So more likely it'll be Feb or March by the time it makes it's way to these shores.
So Al, you riding this weekend? And where? I'd love to get a look at that machine on the trail!
The boat anchor or as I like to call it "the Brick with wheels II" will be heading way South to Funnel Web (I have no idea where but near Nowra ... I'm following some youngúns so I'm sure to come back broken)
Well worth a ride Gab ... but remember, never ride somebody else's rig ... you always want one after
I'd provide action pics ... but we all know I crash my brains out as soon as the cameras come out ... just ask Mog.
ep, i got some wonderful footage of you Al at knapsack going down THE rocks and roots successfully only to crash into a tree, kills the hardest part then stacks on the easiest!...hehehe!
is it on youtube?
The Crank Bros wheels spin bloody great, but I'm finding the rims way softer then I expected.
Some of the problem is I'm running non ust maxxis minions which have occasionally burped mid run leading to some of the bigger flatties. Something to consider if your thinking of crank bros. NOTE: the front is like new, so maybe a UST rear for next time. I've been running 35 to 40psi in the rear to try and keep the bead and also save the rim, and things seem betterer.
The CCDB is proving to be awesome ... apparently the suspension action on the propain is the same as my stab (which I'm very skeptical about, but Rod knows his shizz I guess so *shrugs) so discounting the linkage ... I have heaps more traction, 3" of sag definitely is a thing to appreciate and the rig just eats rock gardens.
At Funnel Web ... there is this short rock garden in a flat section, so I was trying my hardest to really get it out of shape whilst pedalling through ... nope was as close to smooth as I can imagine and this was with an over sprung Boxxer.
In comparison I was also riding a Yeti 303 R with RC4 & 40s on the day and it just wasn't the same ... a lot of it was because of the harsh 40s setup I'm sure
I've now ridden the Propain back to back with an Evil Revolt, Makulu, Orange 224 Evo, Yeti 303R and I think the Evil is likely the closes ... oh and surprisingly Nick's Glory is pretty good too (aside from the bent cranks ) I'm obviously biased as I like Giants
all it needs are better brakes as the juicy 7s are starting to show their age I think.
Still no action pics ... but hopefully will be an independent Mag review in the near future.
