Red hill helmet cam video
Tried a gopro helmet cam at red hill.
If you endure long enough, about half way in there is an OTB sequence. Ouch!

Hi Staffe
Nice home made soundtrack...!
Double tracking overlayed on Single track footage... sweet.
Gotta love that part of the rim ride, been OTB there myself, that section has gotten a bit more sketchy over the last 12 months or so, partly Moto caused, but perhaps more to do with the rain and the "straight down the hill" routing of the track.. in general that track is getting more stop/start/technical and loosing its flow. trail fairies??
It has indeed become very rutted at some sections. After the "Drop zone" going back up has changed dramatically over the last 6 months or so and a lot of it is walking material. As long as motorcycles use the place trail fairies may be a wasted effort?
Hans, the mixing of the music and the cam rattle was based on ineptitude, I thought adding music would remove the cam audio but it did not.....
Love the bit of Herbie Hancock at about the 9 min mark.
Is red hill frequented by moto's?
I'm keen to try it out but not if i'm likely to run into a big engine somewhere along the way.
Hey - I'm impressed! Herbie's Chameleon it indeed is.
Yeah, a few moto's frequent the tracks but there are really no issues. You can hear them miles away. I just stop when they get close and they can pass.
Really nice day, pretty good camera quality too.
What's the song playing at about 7 mins when you stack.. is it more herbie? It's funky!
The two first ones are mine, the second one is slow and the stack is towards the end of that song, I think Chameleon starts after the stack.
The quality from the gopro (1080 hero) is not bad at all. Perhaps mounting the camera front on the helmet is better to get some handle bar action and not have half a helmet in view all the time.
Nice work. Got me thinking Red Hill might be worth an explore.
For ideas re: camera mounting options, if you have a look on vimeo or youtube for Post Office Bike Jam you'll see some footage from a chest-mounted GoPro camera. I reckon that gives the best view of what the bike's doing, the rider's body english, and an appreciation for the terrain. Under the seat seems to work well too, if you can figure out how not to knock your legs on it.
And then there's the stalk-mount on the helmet if you like watching the rider do a spot of on-the-bike gurning*.
