WInmalee - Including a Bee's Nest challenge
End of White Cross Rd, Winmalee, NSW. There's a small parking area here but it's a standard suburban street so overflow isn't a problem.
Some of my regular weekly riding bud's and I are heading out to Winmalee for a social ride on Friday afternoon at 5:00pm.
We'll be starting at the little car park at the end of Whitecross, heading along Shaw's ridge and then up Bee's Nest (bragging rights for whoever climbs it in one hit) and out to GHS lookout. Back along S/Wood ridge and then down the Grotto. From here we'll either turn right and head to the cars or maybe turn left and ride through Bluegum then back up Shaw's (if we're really keen).
Pace will be moderate (for me anyway).
Look forward to seeing a few regulars out there.
Ian.

I'm jealous. I like the looks of that track, and wish it were possible for me to make it... If I were free and it weren't so far, I'd go to it. Hope it goes well!
I'll have a couple of extras.
Bee's Nest Challenge, to hard to resist this, I am in.. Only ever been down it.
I'd love to come along...but I work 9-5!...I'll see if I can sneak out early or I might hit the trail late and meet you along the way somewhere!
I am out now, jumped the gun and forgot about my son's piano recital at 4:30. I think I would be cutting it a bit thin.
One of my very early off-road experiences rides included the Bees Nest Climb...and it was a walk-athon!
The views are definitely worth it...although Faulco is better
If I lived in the Blue Mtns I would have been there!
I might be able to make it Ian, depends on work, if i am off early i might come and do up bees nest then reverse ghs!
might be able to make this one if i get home on time, but i will be heading in from the other end so hopefully catch u before bees nest....love that hill
I considered reverse GHS but considering some people will be parking at the start, the Grotto won out. Most people probably haven't been through the Grotto and its a nice area, so we'll head down there. I'm meant to give blood again today, but I rode with you after last time and was sick for about 6 weeks so I might reschedule that.
Hopefully see you out there.
Had to push the start time back 30 minutes for a couple of guys that are coming from a bit further afield.
Ill get there round 5:00 anyway.
Ian
How did the ride go Ian, work had me by the balls, i wanted to ride!
Went well Todd, pretty big turn out - 10 or 11 riders and a pretty quick pace I think (well for the fat and unfit ones like me). There was 3 or 4 who conquered Bee's Nest, I failed miserably, heaps worse than usual. I made the stupid mistake of following Jason from the start and trying to match it up Bee's Nest. As can be expected he was out of sight within 1/4 of the way up and waiting for a while at the top.
I had a ride of Peter's Reign from GHS back to the Grotto, large is definately too big I think but the bike felt ok except for the pedals that would unclip as soon as i lifted a foot and made the water bar's interesting.
1 bloke had a wheel fall off in the Grotto, luckily it was when he lifted his bike over a log so no carnage.
Let me know when you want to meet up for a ride, still a maybe for the 4 hr - need to talk my mate from work into it.
Ian
You did ok on the ride Ian, I was the one dragging the chain at the back. Ian (aka Guv) had his rear wheel come off, all worked out ok. I'll make it up that last 30 metres of Bees Nest Hill next time!!!!
