2011 Goals
Wanted to get my goals down on paper and thought in a blog on here would be a good place to go as I am likely to posting up blogs from races on here as well. I have really been enjoying my riding on both road and offroad and have been putting in some solid hours on the bike in the run up to Christmas and had already decided in my mind that I was going to race alot this year. I currently have both my road and MTB license and intend to utilise both.
So goals for 2011 are as follows:
Ride a 100k MTB event with a target time of 05h 30m or less. After my result in the Fling I am pretty confident I should be able to get near this and will be training pretty hard to achieve this. Hoping to achieve this by the time Capital Punishment rolls around.
Start riding A Grade with my road club and be competitive in races, I have not done any crits yet so its quite difficult for me to judge where I am, but I estimate currently at B Grade speed.
Races planned for the year thus far:
Capital Punishment in March
Mont 24 in April
Dirtworks in May
CCMTB Club Rounds
Any Crit race I can get myself to
Intend to get to Wagga, Hunter Valley Road races.
So yeah lets see how I go in trying to hit these goals!

Races I recommend are
Beaumont road - Nscc
Sydney Olympic park - lacc
west head - mwcc
Heffron is popular cause it's close to the city, but the course surface is rubbish.
There's also a big difference between A and B, but give it a crack. Either way they're awesome fun.
Let me know when you find a hunter valley road race - I haven't seen them before.
once a year- on a Sat or Sun morning-the roads used resemble the Paris to Roubais in some spots but nice & udulating with some fast turns!
Training seems boring! But if you want to race A grade you'll need to be pushing out a 4.45 at least for a 100km Mtb race!
Them A grade roadies are bloody fast!
Good luck for '11. You'll do it! Should be more of it.
Ben
Yeah I know re the A grade boys, still something to aim for.
@ Tate, those crit races you listed are the ones I will be aiming to do. Beauie is my home race if you will as I am a NSCC member.
Nice goals. Maybe you should add something to do with B grade first
I'll be there in the near future mate!
It's great training!
Definitly see you at Beauie, I intend to be there whenever there is races happening.
@ Brian, yeah should probably put in there to win some races at B Grade level as well!
If youre keen. The one today was won by richard lang from Jayco skins. Im not sure why he wasnt at the jayco series but he certainly peeled A grade today.
I cant think of a better interval training session that a beauie crit - especially when lang is cracking the whip.
on the Sunday morning, I want to be there, but somehow I dont think I am going to have enough time to clear customs, passport control, dump bag and then drive to Beauie to sign on, bearing in mind the flight arrives into Syd at 7.25am lol.
