Was it a blow out or did he roll the tyre off the rim?
Had that happen once going 35kmh down a fast fire trail. Hopped over a small rock, landed and pop - crach bang.... as the tube got caught in the fork, i did the coolest impression of superman... I wasnt riding clip ins back then so was literally catapulted down the trail... Took off reems of skin from my legs and for arms. Also managed to put a perfect replica bruise of my now broken swiss army knife i had in my pocked onto hip... Still had 20k's to ride out of the Nat Park too. I ride tubeless now - just so i can focus on crashing into trees instead.
