CCOMTB XC Round 1 - Broken Skin
So my first time out for the CCOMTB XC Series, I am gonna be racing the majority of these races this year and having checked my calender there are very few races that clash with my road calender so I am lucky on that front. After being told that B Grade is where I should race, I reluctantly pitted myself against the likes of Gazza (sandbagging git) over 3 laps. The Course was short meadows with bits of the Magic Carpet taken away.
Started fairly well, Gazza + 4 others got the lead into the singletrack and I was behind them before they took off, these guys were fast however I was doing reasonably well and thought I got off to to a reasonable start. Lost a couple of places up towards the top of one of the climbs but that was going well. However a big crash on the rock roll off before you hit Magic Carpet put pay to me finishing anywhere near the front, I am not entirely sure what happened but basically I think my front wheel washed out somehow and I ended up on my side hitting the rocks and taking serious amounts of bark off my left leg and elbow, at the time the crash didnt seem to bad, but I was pretty shaken up.
Had to pull myself togethor to complete the 1st lap which I managed to do and overtook some riders that had passed me following the crash, I assume they must have been C Grade riders. 2nd lap I got into the groove a bit more and shock off the crash, passed a few more people and really found that I had decent legs and could easily pass people on the climbs (road biking I love you) 3rd lap was good, just a case of knowing I was going to be at the finish soon and really enjoyed it, my 2nd and 3rd laps were fairly consistent and I think I could of done reasonably well had it not been for the crash, but still we live and learn.
Didnt realise my elbow was as bad as it was until Paul (ps) mentioned it looked pretty deep, a trip to the docs to get some drugs today is in order so I can ride on Wed and race on Sun at Beauie!
I know I wasnt last in B Grade but I dont think I did that well so wouldnt expect a decent placing. I will put my Garmin profile and Photos of my injuries up later.

@Logan, while I was waiting for you to unclip and pick your bike up one of the spectators sledged me for waiting. With all the recent talk of MTB goodwill I thought it was a bit harsh to suggest waiting a few seconds for someone to clear the landing area of a drop off in a club race was going to cause a traffic jam.
Anyway for the record I did ask if he was OK as I rode past.
btw good to hear the arm and leg are ok.
They were ok to me, I heard you ask if I was ok, so that was appreciated.
Just got some white thin type covers on the cuts now, I managed to clean the elbow somewhat but it hurt like alll hell, Oh and had a tetnus shot as well just in case.
