Not sure if any one has already seen this but I'm currently looking into getting a TRX suspension system for general training and came across this website.

Looks like a great resource for all things MTB training related and the content seems quite informative. The home page is a blog but on the right there is a load of resources including nutrition, core training, routines, etc.

I found this website (and the podcasts) the night before I flew out to travel around Sth America for three months. Great in that it has a lot of information to think about and there is also a huge amount of free stuff but annoying as I have to wait until March to use or try some of the suggestions!

As an ex-personal trainer I can advise that he has some very useful tips on resistance training. I'm actually looking forward to ditching my clipless shoes / pedals and trying platforms for normal trail riding. He makes some very logical arguments for them.

Re your TRX, I have one and can advise that they are very good. However you could also make your own from a couple of motorbike tie downs and some spare handles from an exercise equipment supply shop. The principle of the trainer is very simple however they do cost a lot. I was lucky to be given mine. Having used mine for a couple of years, it would be very advantageous to have the straps completely separated from each other. James refers to a "Jungle Gym" (sp??) which I haven't seen but may be slighly different to the TRX.
Either way, I still think the tie down option would work just as well!

Yeah James has some very good stuff.

He has plenty of free tips and advise, I even purchase a couple of his training programs a few years ago when I had time to be serious about racing and follow his blog on the facebooks.

I take it the training programs were worth dollars? They do not actually look to be all that much so was wondering if anyone had tried them and whether they were valuable or not.

as long as you have the discipline to follow them they will make a difference.

I use trx, and have used ultimate instrument (separate straps) in the past. Trx wins hands down for mine...
