Wow, what a difference 4 days can make. Long, hard (well by my standards anyway) ride last night and felt good for about the first 80%. By the end my thighs were absolutely wasted but compared to the way they felt Saturday, well there was no comparison. Don't know what to put it down to, haven't spent the time on the trainer this week that I did last week, have started having the protein drinks to help with muscle recovery / growth, maybe I'm seeing the beneficial signs of this journey already, or maybe it was just the different bike. No , matter what the reason, last night was enough incentive for me to continue this journey for a while to come yet.
Exercise
2 x 10 push ups
3 x 15 sit ups
2 hr saddle time, about 26km. Don't know ride time or average speed (no computer) but would be interested to find out

Hmm, writing it up now I probably had too much honey, I suppose all up about 3 teaspoons. Wonder what if anything that does to my cholesterol and blood sugar. Either way its a vast improvement on my intake 10 days ago. Shall keep tweaking.

You should get yourself a computer which uses variables like distance travelled, climbs and descents, bike and rider weight + heart rate to measure your calorie burn.
Hmmm... sorry, I know this is a bit of an ask for your average rider, but you hint you have two bikes, so sounds like there's budget for toys![Eye-wink Eye-wink](https://nobmob.com/sites/all/modules/smileys/packs/Example/wink.png)
Generally you get what you pay for and Polar would be the way to go. However, T7 have this for 50 bucks this week, why not?

thought I'd leave it there at the moment as I think I would benefit from training on the heavier bike. Should make my change back to the lighter bike come race day far more enjoyable.

it is pretty funny - but as I'm sure you're aware I meant dimensions of the monitor
and also how cold it is.
Seriously the computer is not much bigger than a normal bike computer.
Measures 75 mm wide x 46mm high x 20mm thick.
Its not bad but you can't download any data. To keep a track of it you have to write it out yourself, but for the price of most normal bike computers you are getting a h r monitor so not too bad.
The bike computer and the HR monitor work independently of each other and this can throw out your totals. If you stop riding your distance and ride time stop as you would expect but your HR keeps on monitoring so if you stay near your bike, say standing over the top tube, it will keep registering your HR which will throw out your time in zones etc. If you walk away from the bike your HR monitor also stops but when you start riding again it doesn't automatically start again, the bike computer does but not the HR monitor. To start it you have to remove the computer from its cradle and then put it back in again, no biggy really as long as you remember to do it. There is no point pulling it off and slipping it into your pocket as the HR will keep registering. No great issue, just took me a while to work it all out as the instructions are a little light on.
Again no major deal and for the price of some straight bike computers you are getting a HR monitor as well.
