After getting a bubble in my rear Kenda Nevegal which came default with my bike, I went out to by a crossmark which I have used previous and liked but the shop dealer talked me into the Larsen. Its a bit late asking now as I have already bought and used it but have you used this tyre? what do you think of it?

hardtail GT & find that if riding on loose small pebbles/rocks that it flings them straight up onto seat tube making a horrible noise but they do grip & roll very good!

The roll really well but prefer the crossmarks.

I ride exclusively with the Larsen on the rear. It's a great all round tyre suitable for all Sydney conditions. Grips like hell on flat rock and rolls well too. I have ran Crossmarks and Small Block 8s but I ALWAYS come back to my trusty Larsen. It never let's me down.

Agreed - for cross country enduros that are not a mud-fest....i always run larsen on the back and have started trying the a few others for the front... ran with Rendez on the front for the jetblack 24.... very impressed with riding in sand.

Must admit I simply cannot return to crossmark.

Same as Phil. The Larsen is the best rear tyre I have used for xc around Sydney. Tried lots of others and always come back to the TT.

I found that the rounded profile of the larsen didn't suit me and always felt less stable than the squarer edge of the ignitor I'd used previously. Both on rear and 2.35. No denying that the larsen does roll better on hardpack.
Currently using 2.35 Nevegals front and rear. Heavy, sound like tractor tyres and you wouldn't race on them but very impressed with as all round trail tyre.

Have run a Larsen on the back for 4 years now and it's awesome. Rolls fast, grips perfectly and durable.

I've used these on and off over the years on the back. Outstanding grip on Sydney trails considering their small tread, and very predictable cornering.
Can't say i agree with oldandslow compared to Ignitors. I've found Ignitors to be great up to a point then let go suddenly.

On the Larsens, the 2" is a good weight, but I've found the 2.25 pretty cumbersome.
As far as combos go, larsen on the back and a crossmark on the front is ok if you want to keep maxxis at both ends, and have a bit more grip on the front.
Nevegal is super grippy & predictable, but a bit heavy - great for general trail riding, and an excellent tyre for 'starting out' when confidence is still building.
My current race combo is a Kenda small block8 on the back and a Schwalb racing ralph 2.25 on the front, or a 2.0 ralph on the back if it's going to be wet or a bit looser.

With tyres, despite all the recommendations, all you can do is try a few different ones and see what suits your style.
One way to do that is to pick up cheap ones on close-out, or even get the cheaper wire bead ones to try out and see what you think.
It can take years to find your perfect combo.....

I use a Larsen dual ply downhill tyre on the rear, it's a bit heavy , but i run it a bit lower in pressure, and with tubes, and it cops a hiding. Love the traction on everything in sydney ,Except mud.And NO FLATS ANY MORE... love the larsen..........
