Holy hand-grenade. What a brutal race was that Brakeburner. To me, I think that would be pretty close to a unique experience in Australia.
Essentially as many laps as you could do in 3 hours and 15 minutes. The track included a 6km loop, a 12 minute shuttle run..and wait for the chairlift.
I ended up doing 4.5 laps so 4. I guess there we some people who started so far back in the pack that even if they were quick they wouldnt have got the 4th lap in due to chairlift q's...anyway..the only way to 'fix' the chairlift issue would be to reduce numbers which would not be cool.
For those that equally did the highest amount of laps (I think the top 80 or so folk did 4 laps), the winner is the one who did the fastest lap on the super descent section. 11km with some ridiculous drop of 1300m or something. Amazing.
Many mechanicals on cross country bikes. If you do it next year..bring your 5" + bike or put some fat 2.35" tyres on at least unless your uba. 6" trail/am type bikes made the course alot of fun.
Incredible race, never had a cramp before in my leg cause I was out of the saddle pinning it for so long !!!
Props to my mate who was only a couple of minutes slower than Jess Douglass on the super D section.
