Greetings from a new MTBer
Hows it going, new to mountain biking and just introducing myself. I started up about a yr ago with a Jamis hardtail as away of rehabilating myself after a fractured hip. The addiction wasn't long taking hold and I've recently got myself a new Giant x2 Anthem. Its making the trip around Manly a whole new experience. Now that I'm looking the part all I need is some skill to complete the package. Do most of my riding in Manly or Loftus.
Hope to meet up with some new MTBers and get in some new trails, I see the calendar with advertised meets so hope to catch ye on the trails.

If you like to go for a ride somewhere you haven't been too b4 post a ride & you should get a few tag alongs or people too show you around unfamiliar trails . What sort of trails are you looking too ride also ?
Hi Cormac,
If you'd like to get some friendly competition in, then try some XC club racing. A number of riders do the Western Sydney MTB races at Yellomundee (see www.wsmtb.com ) and also the races at Central Coast Ourimbah MTB. Both locations take about 55 minutes to get to from Lindfield.

Riding XC stuff at the moment, always on the look out for some good single track.
I could have done with taking your advice at the wknd, headed out to Menai/Lucas Heights on Sunday to try somewhere new. Took info from the trailflix site, the only thing flowing was my language as I had to hump the bike again and again. Also the place is very sandy and pretty much every trail is ruined by dirt bikes. Alot of them there on Sunday. Think it'll be scratched off the list of place's to ride
Hi Rob,
The XC racing is definitely something that Im interested in. Was considering taking part this wknd until something else came up. Probably would have found an excuse anyway, think I need to get a bit more fitness and skill before I compete.
Speaking personnaly, fitness is not an absolute prerequisite for club racing. I race D Division, ie two x 6km laps - and it takes me about 70 minutes. The A Div riders and young guns do about two laps to my one, but I'm more than twice their age!
Fitness of course helps - but technique is probably more important in your early races. And there's no better place to learn and discuss this stuff than at a club race. And racing helps motivate you to get fitter and improve technique.
nice stuff there you just need too be shown around properly , don't knock it till you have been shown the right tracks too ride on & yes there is a bit of sand on the fire trails .
