Finished all maintenance today on the place, wow it has come up good, cant wait to take you guys, you should love it, me, Jeff and Ian spent a couple of hours doing some serious maintenance on sunday that came up awesome, went today and tidied up and also some other work, now she is ready, just needs some bmorc tyres to roll it!..we will be climbing bees nest, but there are also rewards for effort!..Prepare to do the roll off, she is quite scary but you guys will handle it no problems!..come on sunday!
Wow, 9:30 on a public holiday weekend!
I guess Ill turn up. We've got a group of friends up Sat night so I might be a bit bleary eyed.
Good to see your name up there mate
Tell you what, lucky you moved to balmy Springwood
Absolutely bitter up here today
I'm heading out early to do a couple of laps so I may see you guys out there. Showers are forecast.
That's what's forecast for the upper mountains tonight.
Aren't you drinking vodka spritzers in the sun down in Sydney this week
I'll save some snow for you
i just took the dog for a walk
Holy Mary it's brisk
Weather shouldn't be a problem, the new stuff handles water sooooo well, the creek crossing happens in the air now, the only mud we might encounter will be at the bottom of blue gum, we can avoid that by going up onto shaws ridge then the big downhill switchback followed by climbing bees nest, Ian and i have soom cool features to show you guys, we might even do the new part( keeping its name out of public domain) twice, once to begin then 2nd to finsh ride, it is worth every penny just to do it twice, 2nd time at max speed!
My phone number is 47 544 878 so ring before you come down if weather looks bad!
Rode GHS etc with Joey today, what a rider he is, we came up with some great ideas for the place, cant wait to implement them, watching him, descend technical stuff and steep terrain and making it look simple is inspiring!
Makes everything look so easy i think I can do it
Be interesting to see some of his ideas
Hopefully just a bit of drizzle at worst for Sunday
Well chaps, the time has finally come for me to get a ride back up there! I've been missing the XC side of things since being back in the town of "Sun drenched vodka spritzer drinkers"
Definitely looking forward to having another crack at Bees Nest - maybe the time away will give me an edge!
See you there!
maybe we can fashion up a quick road gap for you
You guys!
But I don't think I'll be bringing the DH bike up... I don't like the thought of pedaling a 20kg, single ring, road cassette rig around, let alone trying to push the bugger up Bees Nest. Would be awesome for the ride down though, and I reckon heading down the switchbacks would be a fun option on it!
Just the Mach 4 I reckon
He's gonna sign up tonight and come along
Will be a good crew, looking forward to it
is it the weekend yet?
Not the weekend yet Andy and I am in Canberra tonight. It is a balmy 12 degrees here which is really Sydney weather, I think it followed me down.
Did a charity spin bike challenge today at Riverside Plaza in Queanbeyan which the Centre Managers signed me and my subbies up for. We were still in the lead last I heard, had to do the most distance in 30 minutes of which we did 26.7 km. Pretty punishing trying to keep the cadence over 105 for 10 minutes.
Looking forward to a real ride again it has been a few weeks since the wheels have touched dirt.
I recently moved to Springwood (from Katoomba) and have been chomping at the bit to get a ride in with you lower mountain locals. So thanks for posting this! Can't wait!!
I've got at least 3 guests staying over Sat night now, so I'm pretty iffy for this.
I just rode it with Craig - the creek was awesome in the dark. We went back and did it twice. Bee's Nest beat me today - first time not clearing it in at least 7-8 visits. Hopefully the rain holds off as the track is sweet at the moment - didn't check in the swamp though.
If I'm not present at 9:30, dont wait.
Cheers.
Cant wait to see you guys on sunday, hopefully the weather gods will be kind!
Put me down for another time Todd, would love to see this rock in action.
I've been banned from my ultra early morning starts so i will be joining you guys tomorrow morn. See you there.
Looking forward to the 'train' rolling through the newer section, by the way the creek is crossable by foot for those with an 'air' allergy.
Weather looks ok down here, has had very small drizzle overnight but sky is clearing and track holds up awesome!
Yep, overcast but seems OK. See you guys there.
Just checked the Tour Divide leaderboard- I'm pumped!
Hope you guys did not get 2 wet did shaws/blue gum with the kids this morning started to rain as we were loading the bikes at 10.15.
Bit wet towards the end but didn't stop the fun
We decided at the end of the ride
We will now post up a monthly BMORC group ride
Sounds like next time is Hazo
Haven't been there in yonks
Excellent day Todd
Glad i could put on a nice stack for everyone as well
Fun.
Got home, had the kid wash me (and the bike) down with the hose, into the shower then chowing down on several chicken, cheese and chilli jaffles with chocolate chaser in front of the fire by 1230.
Haven't got that wet on a ride for a while, but it was worth it. Great trails, and loved being part of a 10 carriage train.
Great turn up fellas, was truly awesome to see Gab, big effort to come all that way, you will always be a mountain resident in our opinion, great bunch of riders also, hope everyone liked the bottom section, so next time Lazo might be on the cards, then we shall get the trig ride ride up, get some mountain climbing/ riding done, great thing about it is very few people have done the trig ride, and the monster descent!
Was great to catch up with y'all even though it was wet toward the end I still enjoyed getting out and Andy's stack wasn't his fault.........honest.
I was surprised to find the creek gap working well for such a recent repair, next to get some soil back into the eroded root area on the run out after the landing.
100% turn up too, that's great considering how the sky looked.
Was definitely a fun ride, even though the weather turned slightly cold & wet towards the end. Of course, with Todd & his Epic, there was an issue or two! Good luck getting that seal fixed mate!
Definitely miss the quality of trails and, of course, the quality of the people to ride with! Was quite surprised at getting so far up Bees Nest, considering how much (lack of) time I've been on the XC bike recently.
Cheers for a good day!
