Wow, what a day. From scraping the ice of the bikes before the first lap to chasing a top 10 finish right till the last second.
Big ups to all of the event crew for putting on such an amazing race, Even for amateurs like us having the timing system with live updates really gave us the feeling of a being in a professional race team (without all the free stuff and personal masseuse of course).
Also a big thanks to my amazing team mates, can't think of a couple of glads I'd rather have a dirty weekend with, LOL, probably a few girls though . I can't believe how quick Ben was, to put it in perspective the pro's were doing 29 to 31 minute laps, Benno was cutting 35's! And to top it all off he bought his first mountain bike 10 weeks ago, this guy is some kind of freak. Andy too put down some solid, his sheer bravado and disregard for personal safety makes him a force to be reckoned with on the descents, murders the technical climbs too. He probably would have a smashed out a spanking time on his last if he hadn't left drive line in several parts all over the trail :S. Unlucky mate, very unlucky.
All in all a truly spectacular day, got 2 months to get plenty of training done for the next one. hoping to crack the top 10!

Yeah it was a great weekend all round and a fantastic result for our team! Solid efforts by everyone all round! I am sure we'll be hunting down a top 10 finish next time. After a freezing first lap I was really looking forward to a hotcup of tea to warm myself up. We couldn't have asked for better weather and the track was unreal with some techy sections combined with some nice free flowing adrenalin pumping downhills. Trouble and Andy put in some solid times to make up the gaps on the teams ahead and if it wasn't for a very unlucky mechanical on the last lap I am sure we would have got that top 10 we deserved. However there is always next time and I am sure we'll be ready and raring to go.
Thanks to troubledutchy for making the effort to drive down and do all the organising, not to mention helping me with my mechanicals all weekend.
Really looking forward to the next race now...
Benno

I saw one young lad who had come in on his first lap & he had frost on his gloves ,it was a chilly -2 degrees at 8.00am race start .
