I'll be there.

FWIW I rode the Perimeter and Long tracks on Saturday, apart from a few boggy areas and water draining across the track in some areas, it was dry as a ..

First I turn up with 3 mins to spare, then notice the pace is either rather quick or my small fried rice for lunch and two tea spoons of Milo in my morning coffee wasn’t going to help me catch up to the six , drug test required, riders way in front of me. Luck prevailed; my front derailleur seized allowing me to get my breath back while I released the cable leaving me in granny for the rest of the night.

Once up and riding again the mongrels were gone again, dammed fried rice! As I approached the only big climb on the Terry Hill “out and back” one of the plastic buckles on my pant broke. Luckily no-one was around to see me pushing my bike up the hill with one hand and pulling my pant up from around my knees with the other. A quick knot fixed that wardrobe malfunction.

I finally reached the steroid induced mob at the end meeting point, another breather. I headed off well before the others so as to at least get a little bit ahead. 9 seconds later I’m last again ;-( getting jack shit of feeling like pensioner luck was again on my side this time with a broken chain. Another breather and thanks to Ben for producing from his bag of tricks a magical devise called a chain power link, how good are those things??
Anyway to cut an already too long story short I finally got back to the tavern (being stuck in granny gear on the black top sucks big time)

At least the schooner of Beer went down well. It just wasn’t my night. But any time on a bike is still a good time; at least that’s what I’m typing now after my third red Eye-wink

Night ride was a little quicker than I remembered them being.... awesome.
Apart from Greg's mechanicals it was a very good pace.

Damn... Christine you have improved heaps, watch out for her on the road especially. Hmmmmmmm

Overall a top night ride and great company. The beer after was great too.

I don't know whether it was performance enhancing substances, a lot of hard work or the smell of that first beer, but Christine just lit up the bitumen on the homeward stretch after a 20k ride. I tried to catch her but she put me in my red zone.

I wasn't just on the road either, on the return trip from the lookout she was up front (outpacing Gazza) and telling Evan to pick up the pace. Yes she was even wearing lyrca.

Christine averaging 17kpm at night - awesome.

Good ride last night boys and girls. And good to see my Connex link put to good use finally by Greg. It's been in my bag for ages! The cardboard box it was in was starting to fall apart already!

See you all on next week's night ride

I KNOW!!
I don’t quite know what happened but I just loved that ride – wish I could ride like that every week it was just the best fun!!
And, after last weeks effort at The Dam I love the ‘new’ bike now...
Thank you all for a great ride – I may leave my computer off the bike for a bit since I have never had such a fast average before Smiling
Greg out did himself with a great attitude and sense of humour the whole way and thank you very much for taping my light back on - Tim the Tool Man lives on!!
