Hi Everyone,

I'm out of action for the next few weeks so after a few inquires of where is our ride this week. I thought I'd better get another one on the calendar.

Since its soo close to the Mont and Fling etc etc and it seems like the pack has become a bit roidy. So if we get enough people we could split into two groups???? One at 15km/hr and the other at 20km/hr? Dare i suggest that?? Eye-wink Some suggestions could be.

The fast pack can meet and arrive early and do the same track or
The fast pack can simply do a longer route!

But we will all meet up for a beer afterwards!

lorrie's picture

Just post the ride guys! Smiling i have a mates wedding rehearsal so i cant do next wednesday

GAZZA's picture

what about the 17.5km an hour group??? do they set off in between the two groups then ride a bit further than the 15km group and slightly less than the 20km per hour group and when they get to the pub they cen have a shmiddy as the 20km guys will be having a schooner whilst the 15km guys can have a middy!! do the 20km lot wear lycra and the 15km lot wear baggy's? if so, should the 17.5 lot wear lycra baggys or baggy lycra!!!( ooh, imagine that?) and for bruce? what about baggy pink lycra and his pink scarf?? please let me know as i havn't ridden much lately and consider myself fairly fit but off form, i support the donning of the wonderfull material known as lycra but also love the baggy stuff. OH IM SOOO CONFUSED!!! all i know is that i wont be wearing pink, i'll leave that to cupcake!
yours confusingly,
george, or gazza?? which ever one you want to call me by!!

davis_jnr's picture

You've been offline for so long you've gone MAD!

Little-Ditty's picture

The above is what happens to a man that wears lycra. A sad exhibition of masculinity gone berserk. A long and baggily attired road of rehabilitation awaits this poor soul. Don't worry Gazza, we'll get your orientation worked out mate. Eye-wink

Carlgroover's picture

I think that to finish at the same time in the roided-up pre race state many of the group are in and the reluctance of the homophobes to wear proper racing attire, (lycra being 3 millionths of a second faster per km) there will have to be a pre-ride time trial in order to handicap the start times accurately.

I'm keen for next Wednesday (29/8), but as I average 16.9 kph does this mean I have to ride in my own group, wear faux lyrca and drink a pony of shandy.

Bruce's picture

& internet by the sound of it Gaz, you really do need to get out for a ride.

Stuart M's picture

You should be just ahead of the 15km/h group of Lorrie and myself and you know my brakes aren't that crash hot so when we hit the down hills I'll pass you for a quick chat which can be completed as you pass me on the way back up the other side.

See what you've started lorrie by trying to take the "social" out of the social midweek night ride? Eye-wink

Forecast isn't looking good for this. Pray the weatherman got it wrong!

this morning i am still up for the ride i don't think the rain that we have had so far this week will make it that wet. If it does rain today the centre track and duck holes do hold up very well in the wet, at 13kms it is short but its a good fun ride and we can always do a bit of the perimeter track up the school to add a few more kms for the roidy bunch...

but hey we could just go straight to the pub...

Andrew

Paul's picture

As an alternative you can always add in Waratah between Duck Holes and the Centre track, this will add 10k's plus to the trip.

I rode Waratah for the first time on Sunday and it was bone dry except for a few run-off spots about a kilometre from the end. It's not a technical track but there are a few rocky climbs and decents to provide a bit of a challenge.

Overall this extended loop will be about 26k's (excluding the ride from the Tavern to Terrey Hills shops).

I'm a possible starter, but don't wait if I'm not there on time.

christine's picture

waratah is a daytime ride - and SO not a favourite... maybe that can be for the 'roid bunch!!!
pub sounds so much nicer...

christine's picture

i have NEW LIGHTS FOR MY HELMET..just a bit excited!Smiling

Buck's picture

They better not be brighter than mine Sticking out tongue

Time for a beam off tonight

Ben

Paul's picture

Christine next time you are out that way you should try it again. I can imagine Waratah being a stinker on a hardtail, but its a doddle on a duallie - except for the rocky climb which is a stinker on anything without an engine.

lozza6's picture

this rain has been holding off really nicely!!! barely a drop!

So are we going to do TH perim and long as planned? or hav ewe changed the ride?

See you all at the Tav!

Loz

Paul's picture

The other alternative for the night ride is to do Duck Holes and Centre and when you get to the blacktop is to turn around and do it in reverse - that should give us the usual 20 plus k's.

christine's picture

today i must say!!
you and your 100k ride training.. it's frightening!

Stuart M's picture

he isn't coming.

BTW Buck, those new lights will give yours a run for your money, there's only two of them and neither has the "yellow" halogen glow, not that I'm holding a salt shaker over your open wounds or anything. Eye-wink

Oh yeah, mine are finished also Smiling

Paul's picture

Stuart, still deciding whether I'll come, rugging up and go for a good ride might help decongest me.

I notice you haven't ticked the star yet!

Stuart M's picture

yet have a leave pass

Paul's picture

Try this, when Kel gets home have the table set for two, candle light, soft music and tell her you had the choice of a night ride or a romantic dinner for two with all the trappings and you chose to spend the time with her.

Either (a) you'll get lucky or (b) she'll insist you go for a ride - a win/win

P.S. My wife would tell me to stop wasting time and to get on my bike.

Harry's picture

back late from Melb - won't make it Sad

pikey's picture

....How did the damaged knee pull up? it looked bad.

More importantly how was your new brake leaver?

Greg

Buck's picture

Nice ride. Surprisingly dry!

Hope nothing is injured too bad Matt. The dangers of road riding....much safer on dirt Smiling

Ben

Matt's picture

Important bit: Brake lever fine after being bent back, purely cosmetic and quality Pommie engineering that can take a bit of a beating, excuse to go for some bling replacements!

Other bit: Not so quality Pommie engineered knee, not as bad as I thought driving home, Was a bit tough driving with it throbbing every time I touched the accelerator, lots of swearing got me home! Still quite a lot bigger than the left knee (I call it the Elephant knee :-}) and there's a three inch red cut/blood blister/line across the bottom of my kneecap/knee about where I must've hit the edge of the grate or something else edgy. But I can still bend it and not a big amount of blood so should be right soonish.

Please call be a dickhead next time you see me riding without my pads...

Ta,
Matt.

(Who sees a silver lining in being able to take a day off to keep the leg iced and elevated on a rainy day)

lorrie's picture

At least its the long weekend tomorrow as well!
See you out there soon!

Thanks to Gazza for lending me 1/2 set of Ayup's otherwise there would have been no ride for me!

Stuart M's picture

What happened to your nice set of HIDs?

Matt, Sorry mate, must have been you I passed while playing catch up. Didn't want to look too closely though in case we "blinded" each other.

Hope you're back soon

lorrie's picture

I used them on Tuesday night coming home (40mins) and they should have been fully charged up (3.5hr burn time, 4 hr charge time))so i didn't top up the charge thus they should have lasted, but they didn't. I hope the battery hasn't gone kaput....I'll have to play with them for a while.

Lorrie

Stuart M's picture

for the unreliable HIDs, should be as bright

Fresh from keeping Sydney's radiologists in business again (third time this year!) I can report no fractures so see you back trailside some time soon.

Time to put the knee up and catch up on some classic cinema, Don's Party and the Seventh Seal...

Ta,
Matt.

lozza6's picture

Ahh so glad to hear no fractures mate!

It was so close to a pileup too with me and Buck right behind ya! Shocked

Get better soon!

Loz
