Lunar Eclipse Tuesday 28th Aug - Abandoned
Anyone think a night ride would be interesting Tuesday night to view this rare(ish)event?
I know there is a ride 29th but this could be additional and more social ie <15Km/h with a beer or two with snacks while the event is taking place.
Will need a good easterly view..Thinking the large rock platform looking east over the golf course.
If its crap weather it might be simply a ride or will cancel.
The lunar eclipse will start at about 6.50pm on Tuesday August 28 and by 7.50pm the moon will be totally obscured by the Earth's shadow.
At about 9.23pm, the moon will start to reappear, becoming completely visible by about 10.30pm.
Abandoned....I have discovered I get a great view from my current digs..
Were you there and have a story to tell?

Isnt the dam closed till the 31st?
The Mtb track is closed, you could of course ride around the road, in which case West Head is a nicer choice.
there is a great view out of red hill over Narabeen lake but not sure about a night ride at Red Hill. Happy to give it a go or consider other options.
Yes West Head would be a good view....
you would pick the ONLY night i am going to the movies...oh the dilemma - Matt Damon or an eclipse..
Hey doesn't it just turn a deep dirty red colour?
Aside from that Craig where have you chosen as your alternate venue?
I wouldn't be able to get there till well after 7, closer to 7.30, but depending on where you go I would be more than happy to try and play catch up, not likely I know particularly given that I've had about 2 rides in the last month but you get the drift.
Terrey Hills out to West Head is a logical ride. Could do the duck holes and central but deviate out to West Head.
Yes I believe the phenomenon is as you describe it but there isn't another till 2011 apparently.
I was gauging interest in the ride as an option. I am not overly fussed but thought it could be fun. If no one is up for it that's cool. I will stay home and watch All Saints or the likes and go out on the roid ride Wednesday.
Oh as for Christine's comment, It wasn't me that planned the lunar eclipse for Tuesday night!
of "the almighty one" or an exploding star depending on your beliefs.
I have faith in him!! PLUS! Not happy again since Matt Damon isn't on until next week so i get to spend Tuesday night with Bruce in Die Hard 4 instead!
had that much stamina to Die Hard 4 times, besides I thought you had sworn off men at the moment
no lunar ride tonight
